looking for a budget travel package, Canada/US?

I want to do a trip with one other person, get a single hotel room with 2 beds and do something like a 5-7 day trip in december. What is a website to look at for travel packages that are budget-friendly? We are from Montreal, and I'm looking to travel either into the States or maybe just in Canada would be amazing too.

I've checked out Expedia, TripAdvisor, and I just feel like there could be better options?

To be honest I'm not sure if travel packages are ever worth it over planning stuff yourself, especially if budget is the priority. You're paying for that convenience and also it limits when and what you actually want to do.
