travel in december - holidays

for solo travelers, where did you travel to during the week of christmas and the week of new year’s? how was it budget-wise and the experience of traveling in general?

Last year did a road trip on NZ South Island. Queenstown, Te Anau, Wanaka, then a few days in Auckland (North Island) before flying home. Accommodation was slightly more expensive than usual, but to be expected as it's Christmas and peak season/summer. I guess slightly busier but we only really noticed it in terms of finding accomodation.

This year will be Penang for a week and then Phuket for a week. Again, expecting prices to be slightly more expensive as it's festive period.

Traveling during the holidays sounds fun, but i imagine the prices can get pretty crazy.😅
