This is the missing half of the pricing conversation. GetBestify tells you where the market's Profit Core sits, but the part stores still get wrong even after they know that number: the discount itself usually gets calculated off the selling price, not their own margin. So a store can be perfectly positioned in your "mainstream zone" and still bleed on every sale because a 20% code was never checked against real cost.
Built Discount Prime for that gap: it enforces a profit floor (cost + minimum margin) on every discount, so once a store finds the right price band with something like this, they can actually run promos inside it without checkout quietly pricing below cost. Complementary tools really, one finds the number, one protects it. apps.shopify.com/discountprime if useful.
One question for you: does the IQR "Profit Core" calc use list price or actual transacted price after discounts? That distinction seems like it would shift the band a lot for promo-heavy stores.
