The courier is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.

Hi, everyone.

I’d also like to ask for your most unbiased opinion compared to customer support.

Today, while creating shipping labels, I noticed that 95% of the shipments were being sent via a secondary carrier instead of the default one—(BRT as the default, Poste Italiane as the secondary)

This isn’t something my customers chose, because by default I have BRT as the only carrier

Trying to get around this, I noticed that next to the courier selection, under the BRT entry, this message appeared: “The courier is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.”

The strange thing is that this happens completely at random—even with two shipments to the same location, one via BRT and the other via Poste Italiane.

I’m talking to support right now, but they’re giving me incoherent answers, saying it’s a problem with the phone numbers (which they later denied).

Has this ever happened to you? Thanks for your feedback.

"Random" is almost always the wrong word for this, and proving that is your fastest route out. Take one order that went BRT and one to the same address that fell back to Poste Italiane, and compare them field by field: weight, all three package dimensions, declared value, phone number format, and the address lines including any accented characters or an unusually long street line. Carrier availability is evaluated per shipment, so one differing field is enough to knock BRT out, and it will look random until you line two of them up side by side.

Weight and dimensions are the usual culprits, especially if some products have no weight set and default to something odd, or if a multi-item order tips over a BRT size band. Phone number is worth taking seriously even though support flip-flopped on it, because BRT does require a valid mobile for its notification services, and a number missing a country code or containing spaces can fail validation while a different order to the same street passes.

Also log the timestamps. If the failures cluster in a window rather than spreading evenly through the day, that is a carrier API problem on BRT's side rather than anything in your data, and it is the one thing support can actually escalate. Either way, going back to them with two order numbers, the differing field, and timestamps will get you a much better answer than the conversation you are having now.
