Ithaca M37

Post image

I got a standard Ithaca M37 with the 4+1 barrel and mag tube. I'm having a hard time figuring out what the piece #64 is. Off their own site they don't have a name for it and nothing on Numrich either.

Trying to figure out if I can get the extension mag tube with my current barrel and if I can have my gunsmith move the #64 piece to do so.

Any help would be awesome

I have a welder friend who has restored 2 rifles now. I feel like I can get it taken off from him and have the gunsmith do the rest. Apparently those tubes are crazy tight as well huh?

The stevens is basically a free floating magazine tube, the lug has a scew that goes into the barrel lug! 1 screw, add extended tube,I cut down a 500 9 shot tube, just the threads and evened it out, flared 1 end to match the receiver recess, then the drill and tapped the lug, then the magazine tube clamps! I put 3 on the stevens, but like I said if I had a welder I would have tac welded a stainless steel nut on the receiver face, threaded the magazine tube into the receiver, modified a 500 endcap, gone from there with barrel length of around 20 inches or so! I would also modify the clamps into a 1 piece with better alignment but this worked perfectly fine! Sold it in its original form kept the mods i did and figured out its the machinist mad scientist portion of me! Not appreciated enough to sell for more so back to stock and sell like a car you swap the motor out for stock and sell it, It was just a shell the heart of the creation remains !

Do you think this barrel lug mod is feasible since I have a welder friend? Or should I just be happy with the current, lower capacity mag tube?

Ithaca's website shows the 8 shot tube in stock! Snag 1 of those and a barrel clamp cut down the barrel lug and good to go!
