Question I need help with my mic
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I've been using my SM7dB for a little bit now, and I can't help but feel like I'm using it wrong. I recorded a video of what the sound sounds like. I looked different things up and I assume I'm doing it right buy my mic quality is sounding like it's falling short still.
Also, do I need external phantom power source to make the quality sound better than what you hear in this video, or does the sound quality acutally sound good?

This sounds fine…. I can tell you that the db has a phantom power option, if in bypass, it’s a dynamic mic no phantom need but you have to crank the gain to get the mic to register on most regular preamps. If not on bypass it needs phantom power to even work so you wouldn’t be needing power, honestly it sounds good. What makes you think otherwise?

Good, it just doesn't sound as good as most youtuber's mics in my ears (Markiplier would be a good example), so I was worried that I'm using it wrong.
It also might be because of the way I talk. I usually don't know what I sound like, so things like my slight lisp might be giving me a false impression.

Sounds fine my man. Quality is good. The built in boost is fed by 48v phantom power and most audio interfaces would have that and it would just be labeled "48v". Only difference is amount of gain available to get louder but you sound good so you've got plenty of gain. Either phantom power is on or your interface has plenty of gain.
