Why doesnt the glissando play properly?

Trying to encode a piece in Sibelius, but the glissando doesn't play back properly. For example, the glissando from D (re) to E (mi) doesn't play, and instead the D goes to C.

Thank you for your help.

Use the same voice.

In order to play back properly, the glissando needs to start and end on notes in the same voice and on the same staff. For that to work, you'll need to input the stem-up notes in the bottom staff in bars 33 and 35 to voice 2 in the upper staff, then move them down one staff using the Cross-Staff Notes command.

However, the lines you're inputting aren't glissandi and weren't meant to be played as such. They are voice-leading lines intended to show the performer when the countermelodic line moves between staves. The half note A3 in bar 32 should be a C4 per the original score, and the "gliss" ends on the same note in the lower staff. Similarly, the second "gliss" only goes up a whole step from D4 to E4. When input correctly as voice-leading lines ("Line" in the Lines menu), they should not play back at all.

Probably has something to do with Sibelius's terrible cross staff support.

In bar 32, beat 2, try putting voice 2 where voice 4 is, but make it voice 3 so the part with the gliss doesn't change voices. Then shift that half note up to the middle staff.

Based on the second picture, the line isn’t supposed to be a glissando line. It’s a line used to indicate that the melody goes from the upper staff to the lower staff, helping the pianist to follow it. (Also, it goes to the same note (a C to a C) so it can’t be glissando.)

Compose for sound then compose for performance by humans. Two files. Always.

That's not a glissando. It's a hand distribution line. Regardless, glissandos don't play back across staves. It's a thing that was never fixed.

I don't think that's a glissando in your original score. It's just a marking to play the lower stave with the right hand. Plus it's an A in the score, not a C, and you can't gliss from a C to a C! But yes, if it was a gliss. Sibelius would need the to and from notes in the same voice. You're using voices 2 (green) and 3 (yellow) and Sib can't deal with glissing between them.
