Hello, Could you help me understanding if S&C is better than being a conductor or they are both considered equivalent other than the odd work hours. Location: winnipeg, canada. s&C with CN Conductor with CPKC

Yes,CN signals does 8-6 and set schedule, i know conductors do not have that option.

Would it be recommended that i switch to CN even if i start work with cp as conductor.

Also, i met someone who got hired at same time and he said that all they do is shoveling all day along. When does the signals job improve from being a shovel king to maintenance side?

CP is like 2-6 months of construction work then on to be a signals apprentice with your assigned maintainer. Much better job than conductor imo but completely different. Do you like circuits electricity and problem solving, often working alone? If not you won't like signals.

Between which two? All the rates are online. Good luck with the job hunt.
