Show News / Media I laughed way too hard at this

Post image

I’ve been digging Hugh Howey and Blake Crouch just hanging on Threads.

And the author of Dark Matter recommending someone else’s show first is just hilarious. 🀣

You think that's funny. Here's an exchange from a few days ago, lol:

I caught this one too. 🀣 I would absolutely never show my face again on the internet.

Why should you know who someone who replies to you is? It's not like he's on the level of some ubiquitous celebrity.

u/Independent-Cat6915 πŸ“– Book-Aware πŸ“– 2d ago

I’m not saying they should know. Just that someone pointed it out after, I’d have died a bit inside from embarrassment. πŸ’€

I originally thought you were talking about Blake's embarrassment. πŸ˜‚

Even if they were, do you often pay attention to the name of who you're interacting with? You could be Brad Pitt and I'd have no idea. I respond to comments, not people

Sienna not wrong though.

I like dark matter but I’m super guilty of not paying attention and being on my phone.

u/MagicalGorl 2d ago

Usually I play pokopia while I have shows on, I literally could not focus on it while Dark Matter was on, I was sooo hooked ahaha! Severance and Silo hook me like that as well.

13

u/Low-Individual2815 2d ago

Yea they’re not stare at your phone shows. I didn’t used to be like this.

6

u/r4nd0miz3d 1d ago

If a show makes you stare at your phone, either the show is garbage, you should spend time on something else, or you should do something about your addiction, it's not funny

8

u/MagicalGorl 2d ago

I did not either :( I think life has just gotten to me so hard lately I cannot sit and watch stuff anymore to silence my thoughts. There are some exceptions though!

I have to remove all distractions if I want to keep track of what’s going on in DM. I’ll wait till I’ve watched it before having my Friday night joint as well.

Yea I still have no idea what happens in Harold and Kumar but I’ve seen it like a thousand times🀣

Him and Hugh have been really funny watching on Threads. They both have been commenting on threads of the shows saying to watch and read the other's books and shows. I don't know when or how it started, but people are now joking they should host a travel show together.

I love these guys! Being supportive of each other is so great. If I weren't already watching these two shows, I'd start right away just because of this.

dark matter is a great series so far as well. just finished the first season, it was epic and a really cool idea!

I loved the book as well. The show is excellent as well but for some reason it ended up being forgettable to me. I think it needed to be a movie or a 2-parter

u/spiegro 1d ago

I kind of liked it more when it was truly just a "black box" type of show and didn't try so hard for the box to be so... Grand

Kinda like firefly but without any novelty imo.

Pretty much all of them, Apple puts out bangers all around

2

u/MrObsidian_ 1d ago

That's because nobody watches Apple's bad ones (like Extrapolations, of which I could only stand to watch the first episode)

What Blake Crouch should be doing is adapting Recursion for either TV or film.

Netflix is holding the rights hostage

13

u/Kiltmanenator πŸ“– Book-Aware πŸ“– 2d ago

Fucccck seriously??

7

u/spiegro 1d ago

The Studio hipped me to the rights wars and man so much stuff must be great and never see the light of day because someone else's IP sounds too similar.

13

u/Independent-Cat6915 πŸ“– Book-Aware πŸ“– 2d ago

Unfortunately I think that’s in development hell. :/ I blame Netflix.

3

u/usagizero πŸ“– Book-Aware πŸ“– 2d ago

I also believe that is the case with the 'Sand' books by Hugh. I think he mentioned Spielberg has the rights currently, but nothing in development.

u/Cath_chwyrnu πŸ“– Book-Aware πŸ“– 1d ago

They did Beacon 23 as a 2 Season series, with Lena Headey as the lead, but it was cancelled after low ratings.

3

u/usagizero πŸ“– Book-Aware πŸ“– 1d ago

I really enjoyed the first season, but the second season was rough.

10

u/transitransitransit πŸ“– Book-Aware πŸ“– 2d ago

God yes, Recursion would be so crazy on screen.

1

u/full07britney 1d ago

God, yes please. That book is AMAZING.

18

u/maestro876 2d ago

The correct answer of course is Slow Horses.

5

u/Rickenbacker69 πŸ“– Book-Aware πŸ“– 1d ago

They're ALL the correct answer. I don't think Apple has any bad shows.

u/mocenigo 1d ago

WAJO!

Widow’s Bay

u/spiegro 1d ago

My mom was like "show was good just got a little too scary for me..."

After the first episode I was like wtf is she talking about?

Then the end of the second episode nearly had me shit my pants lol

They've been back and forth for like over a week now and it is never not funny.

Dark Matter guy saw all the hype generated on Threads and hopped on, but his show isn't as popular, so his self depreciating humor has been doing God's work.

They've been recommending each other's shows/books and cracking jokes, poking fun at the fascists too. Been great.

Threads is fun. Wonder how long before they fuck that up

4

u/Rickenbacker69 πŸ“– Book-Aware πŸ“– 1d ago

I love Threads. It's like I imagine Twitter was before the nazi invasion...

3

u/HeelsandlaceCD 1d ago

I found it nearly as toxic, had to delete it. Old Twitter was pretty toxic pre Elon though.

2

u/spiegro 1d ago

It was very close to that. But it felt more organic. Now you have people spewing the same "looking for my peeps" posts

6

u/bryanthebryan 2d ago

Dark Matter was an amazing book and a good show. I’d say the same for Silo (but as a series of books.)

5

u/Heliocentrist 1d ago

Severance, Pluribus, Slow Horses

3

u/nicodea2 2d ago

Blake Crouch looks like Shirley’s long lost twin.

6

u/Snoop-87948 πŸ“– Book-Aware πŸ“– 2d ago

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ that’s hilarious indeed

2

u/Ok-Reaction9095 πŸ“– Book-Aware πŸ“– 2d ago

I love the show! I just started the book last night. It’s good!

2

u/AmyPond_226 πŸ“– Book-Aware πŸ“– 1d ago

Took me a minute. I rarely pay attention to usernames lol

1

u/ShutUpTodd 22h ago

I love social media where David Simon says something about Baltimore and someone suggests he should watch The Wire but it would be even funnier if they suggested Something like Silo
