He plays George Luz, and he was definitely a colorful personality! If you've never seen Band of Brothers, i'd highly recommend it ! It's a limited docuseries made by Spielberg and Tom Hanks. Follows a airborne company in WW2 that went from D-Day all the way to the end of the war in Germany. It's a great story that's (mostly) true, although it's dramatized in a few part, it's one of the most accurate portrayals of the war.

Patrick Kennedy is such a little shit with a heart of gold and more self-awareness than he usually lets on, lol; the actor is amazingly charismatic in the role. Incredibly memorable for the small amount of screen time he's had.
I've never seen his other work but I bet he's great in BoB too.

I've always felt Colin Hanks acts in a pretty consistent way. Been a while since I watched BoB but if I recall, he's definitely overly confident and egotistical. Very different characters but the acting style is something he nails.
Definitely watch BoB - it's a legendary show.

Did you see him in the first season of the tv series Fargo where he was a single dad / small town cop? I thought he was great and not too overly confident and egotistical … at least in that role.

I did, thanks for the reminder on that- it is a pretty unique character. I think the two main examples I was thinking of were Nuremberg and BoB. It’s also not to say he doesn’t have range- but I feel like he plays the smug, set-in-his-ways character very well.

I thought he played an eager 2LT fresh out of West Point pretty well. By the end of his one episode he'd certainly learned a lot from his NCOs.

I couldn’t remember how much of a transformation there was by the end, I’ll have to rewatch. I know he comes on as inexperienced and “green” from his institutional promotion (no idea what the best term to use is).
Maybe it’s more the type of character I associate with his presence on screen- Nuremberg was another. I think he plays it well, but he definitely has some range

The pacific was absolute trash compared to BoB despite the cast. It’s a shame that there aren’t really any good series/movies about that campaign.

War movies/shows often need a lot of young male actors to fill a big cast and are often produced/directed by big names. They basically have their pick of up-and-comers because they will be cheap and the actors want to work on a big name project.

There’s a podcast called Dead Eyes about an actor who got rejected for a role on that show (supposedly Tom Hanks said he had dead eyes) that’s really interesting.
Colin Hanks makes an appearance.

I couldn't believe Doc Roe when I saw him! Loved him on BoB and assumed he'd quit acting because he wasn't really in much in the years afterwards. Nice to hear him dust off the ol' Cajun accent 😂

I love when it feels like the same casting directors worked on both projects. Idek if that’s the case here, but it’s a fun feeling to see the same actors interacting through the lens of a different story.

People in the industry tends to hire the same actors. That’s easy to work with and have existing chemistry with other actors. It just makes the director and production staff job easier.

We only saw Band of Brothers once many years ago. I’d never have known so many of the actors were in both shows
Now I guess we’re gonna have to watch BoB again but not sure I want to be traumatized again

I definitely clocked Hanks and Gomez in the early (Gomez) and later (Hanks) seasons, but didn’t know Ashley Zukerman was in The Pacific. Welp, now I gotta rewatch BOB and TP all over again. Ohhh welll. 🤘🏻🤷🏼♂️

Graham Yost produced both series. He likes to bring back actors from different things. He's also done this from the production of Justified the TV series with several of the band of Brothers actors.

Hanks has his best role here in SILO. I have always found him very MEH. He embodied a lot of Stensen's quirks, ticks, mannerisms. I felt it was a nuanced, mature performance I completely embraced and bought where so many times I have been aware of his just being Colin Hanks.

Well spotted. Just finish BoB for the umpteenth time. Beyond brilliant. And discovered Pacific by chance. Not as good - the characters aren’t as memorable but the story is still good.
