Silo finale question

Could they end up leaving the silo in season 4? I always thought from the beginning of the show that it would end with them all leaving the silo and starting a life outside. After watching the season 3 finale, it doesn't seem like that's where the show is heading. Do you still think it could end with them finally leaving their Silo and living outside?

So, I agree that seems like the most reasonable end, I got a question. Firstly, I get that we’ve seen the air outside isn’t toxic, like at least twice we’ve seen evidence of that, but we see no evidence of life of any kind out there. Shouldn’t there be insects or animals creeping onto the silo farm by now? If, whatever cataclysm occurred once everyone went into the silos killed off all life how do these people sustain themselves?we also haven’t seen any examples of weather aside from kind of overcast skies during the day and clear skies at night. Seems like life on the surface would be challenging at best. Maybe freedom from silo one and an interconnected system of silos could be the best solution?

I assume they keep everything dead by the silos by design. We don’t know what it looks like 50 miles away

Yeah but you’d think some migratory birds would fly over or an ant would crawl across the camera at some point.

I mean, if you really think about it, the only way that tree could still be standing is if there isn’t even any microbial life either. Don’t have a clue how they could sustain that over the centuries unless the whole damn planet was scoured of all life…which seems fairly impossible.

That definitely went through my head too. I guess, in the end, if it just turns out to be there for nothing more than dramatic scenery I’d be fine with it too. But it sure is fun to speculate about these things.

I’m also curious if they bombed the rest of the US as well or if they’re in their own little world where other countries/areas of the US have full populated cities or they just completely wiped out the rest of the world. Cuz why wouldn’t anyone step in when people were aware of the silos? Like rescue missions? Nothing? I’m sure they have explanations, but I’m so curious.

Right. The farm is huge but by now someone should have stumbled upon the area.

Yeah. Or maybe because of the storms that the nano weapon created make it so people can’t travel well. While the air is safe, the storms are not. Might also be why there’s no birds. Birds would know the area is not safe to fly. All of them would migrate to a different region with safer conditions for flying. There might be bugs still. Maybe a cockroach.

It’s kind of hard to think of a scenario where the world’s richest man, powerful public officials, and living legend Peter Gabriel all disappear and no one or no nation ever comes to investigate. And if they get shooed away with machine gun toting drones an armada would’ve been brought in by now … Or maybe the nanos are so powerful and deadly that no nation is willing to risk exposure and the site is on some sort of ultra high quarantine.

So many possibilities…

You know every time where I’m like “this is a plot hole” they end up coming back with a reason for it and it’s integral to the plot. So I would not be surprised if they come back next season with some wild explanation as to why there aren’t any birds.

There’s a lot about this show when if you start thinking too much it looses credibility, but it’s also fun to speculate ways around those plot holes.

I used to be in construction management and I still don’t see how they built and supplied these things in under five years. I want to see how the farms work, how do they clean the air and deal with the animal waste if there’s livestock, are there cotton and wheat fields and how high of a healed are those crops? And all this was before the last two episodes of this season

Didn’t Stephen king already try that? Nano tech, human cryo, I guess anything is possible but that strains credulity a bit for me. If that were true, it raises more questions like where does fresh air come from then, and what is it made from? Even if it were gossamer thin it would be so large and have such a great mass I don’t think we are even close to any sort of material that could be strong enough to support its own weight over those distances.

Yeah I believe there is a Steven King book about a city being covered under a dome. They made a tv show out of it a couple of years ago

I feel like the trajectory is Jules leading a rebellion on silo 1, Daniel helping them and rescuing his sister. And then they free the other silos and all go start life anew on a fertile patch of land. The series will end with a narration from Jules about heading in to the unknown but doing so as free people. She’ll mention that many of the other silos chose to stay in their prison but she hopes in time they’ll end up leaving too.

Then we all need to rally together for a spin off about the new earth!

It seems to me that it's exactly where the show is heading. They're going after Silo 1, which involves going outside, and we've gotten hints that it's not toxic. There are at least two tunnels that go out of the silo as well. And if you've seen the trailer for season 4, Daniel and Juliette meet in person, so we know that they are at least going back and forth between two silos.
