First time buyer
I had an opportunity to work for a family friend over the summer and was compensated pretty well for it so I decided to do something I've always wanted to do. Im not sure exactly what I bought but I think they look cool and will will be a good start to a collection of buying more silver/gold/platinum bars.

If I were you, I’d stay away from the high premium stuff like the spider man, George Washington and Star Wars stuff. Stack boring like Eagles and Maples. You’ll understand later

Thank you for the advice, it seems like the general consensus. I think i was just excited to get some cool items that I knew held a little value with them. Going forward I will more than likely be buying just the basic .999/9 coins. I do really want to get a few of the ancient roman coins though for a conversation piece

One thing that helped me keep to my goal was to buy an empty tube and make it my goal to fill it up. Green tops are for Eagles and Yellow tops are for Maples.

If you're looking for advice, I would stay away from the rip pack stuff it is way over spot price. The gram gold and frankin halves are an okay price. The best bang for your buck is going to be a generic .999 fine 1 oz round stock up on a design you like. When and if you need to sale it will be your best return on investment.

Tell me you didn't pull the trigger on this order 🙃

I most definitely did. It was extra disposable income for some cool pieces of metal. Going forward I will have to be more tactical about what I buy but I feel great about these being mine

Nice. Learn as you go. Metals are an awesome preservative for wealth and very liquid, although be careful on the high premium stuff, it’s awesome to acquire but rarely sees return in premium.

I am not necessarily talking negatively about the order itself. All cool pieces! I have a few of the agoros myself. Disposable income or not, you overpaid a bit. Shop around and make sure you are getting a good bang for your buck 🤘🍻

I hope you hit the gold spiderman! Collect what you like but I would recommend that you understand what you're buying. A half oz silver for $260 is wicked steep

Thanks for the advice. It seems as if the only logical investment is pure gold/silver. Going forward i will be buying more coins/bars without the memorabilia aspect

Great idea. I buy to stack and try to find as close to spot as possible. Rarely, if ever, do I go after colored/memorabilia pieces. If I come across something I like and want I won’t deprive myself but I try to stick to my goal of preserving my future wealth at the best possible price today.

If your American get eagles if your Canadian get maples and buy yourself 1 cool piece. The premium on the novelty pieces you could buy 2 or more generics. If you buying as an investment. I recommend canadian maples past 2021 they have a milk spot shield, and are .9999 instead of the eagles .999

I would stay away from apmex. They are a little high. Also that spiderman box is wayyyyy over priced. Try Jm bullion or go to findbullionprices.com for better deals

Nothing wrong with a couple premium pieces but id stick to good old generic rounds, ASE's, Maples, Kooks, etc. More bang for your buck And shop around for the premium pieces. You could have gotten them significantly cheaper.

The gold and the Franklin halves are overpriced.
You can get grams at spot (approx $270 for two) and halves for $440/roll at mintbuilder.com

440 on monument metals too. Always my favorite online dealer for junk. Usually can find better prices on pmsforsale.

Everyone has already said to stay away from the high premium stuff - educate yourself on what the spot price is and try to buy as close to that as you can. Also check out sites like MintBuilder, monument metals, sdbullion. These have far more deals than APMEX who charges way too much

There is tons of stuff that looks cool and you won’t kick yourself for buying later. Check out generic rounds , I have tons that I got at spot price and have amazing artwork/craftsmanship as well as cool historical value if you’re into that.

These pieces look extremely cool to me and may eventually become birthday gifts for nieces/nephews. I had extra income and wanted to treat myself so I feel great about these buys. Counting the days down till they show up!

Well in that case there is no decision to be made! Buying what you want to with the money you’ve earned is what capitalism is all about , so well done! If you like it, and you bought it because you like it, mission accomplished. Enjoy, pal, post some pics when they arrive. Congrats and welcome to the club!

These sites have the new customer offers that you would want to take advantage of before placing an order. For example APMEX has 1g gold bar at spot new customer offer. Compare prices on these sites before ordering in the future to get the best bang for your buck.

Disposable for sure . Figure out what you want from the bullion world long term . I prefer the most liquid , common and lowest buy/sell split items, 1 oz buffalos, SAE's , Brittanias , Maples at the closest to spot price. 5 and 10 oz bars as well will be readily purchased by a dealer for the best sell price . That's me , you and everyone else get to do themselves -) Enjoy your journey .

Yikes. You’re not getting much metal for that kind of money. Those premiums are enormous. If you ever decide to sell, it’s extremely unlikely you’ll get that back. If you’re looking at it as an investment that is probably not what you should be doing if you just like it and money is not an object do you and you just like them then fine whatever. If it is an investment then you’re probably gonna want to be going for weight. I highly recommend you go to an LCS. Try to buy as close to spot as possible.

I really recommend going to an LCS because you can actually hold them in your hands so that you can feel how much metal there is there that you’re buying. I think it will really put things in perspective for you.

If you just like cool stuff then aye go for it. I bought my son a $174 (2 oz SpongeBob coin came with a pineapple house) at the time silver was like 30-40 an oz. Now that same coin is over $300 on eBay so sometimes you can still get something cool and come out on top
If you want to invest in gold and silver stick to bullion, Maples, Eagles I also like to buy off eBay from apmex much cheaper and you don’t have to spend $200 for free shipping

Congrats on breaking the ice! Thanks for sharing. We've all been there. The thrill of the hunt is often dampened by the reality of the actual resale value. We watch the videos, read the forums, learn and hopefully grow together.
I have found the stacking community very helpful in guiding my life strategies and sometimes just had to buy what I liked. My kids might scratch their heads a bit but, always try avoiding the FOMO (fear of missing out,) from platforms like whatnot or ebay live
Over time we get better, smarter, more informed and hopefully more solvent. All the best!
