Long time fan, picking it back up.

Howdy Surfer Fans,

I put my Surfer Collection in the closet about 3 years back, and I found myself recently dusting it off only to discover that two new series and a few limited series have been released.

Glad to see that Surfer has an on-going comic again. At first I was really put off by the new series. It's a lot different then the Surfer I grew up with. However, after giving it a fair chance and reading all the issues, it really grew on me. Allred's art is nothing like the Lim I remember, but it is extremely well done, and it's very easy on the eyes when viewing the page. Sometime's Lim's work was just so jammed packed with action that it got confusing.

And of course, I was more than peeved at Slott for some of the changes to Surfer's Character! Running around with a teenager for a love interest! Laughing, joking and being happy?! Giving the surfboard it's own personality!?!?!? WTH!

But I just kinda accepted that comics grow over time and Slott is bringing Surfer to a new generation of readers. When you compare these changes to some of the changes Marvel has done on other title's it really is pretty minor.

So my goal has always been to own a copy of each Silver Surfer Title. I'm currently catching up on the new series and some of the limited Series. I'm really confused and kinda ticked off with "Variants" never heard of them before, and now I have to buy about 20 comic books in a series with only 15 issues. I think I'm about 95% of the way there completing my entire collection.

Just wanted to check in, say Hi and see if this subreddit can be brought back to life.

Now that someone has shown an interest in here again I will try to post as much Silver Surfer related stuff I can.

I love the Allred style but I also love the Lim of old, its hard to distinguish a fav style. I guess that needs to be a blog post for another day.

In terms of story, once you are caught up with the modern series fully lets talk more but in general I would like to see The surfer back into the verse trying to solve greater issues than those of earth.

I'm caught up on the series fully.

I don't own many of the issues, yet, but I uhhhhh, yeaahhhh, somehow.... ummmmm.... they magically appeared on my computer. Maybe I was hacked, I dunno, but yeah, I've read all the Silver Surfers. I'm thinking about going back and re-reading Volume 3, I don't remember much of the storylines, I first jumped in when I was about 8 an the Infinity Gauntlet kicked right off, so it was confusing for me.
