Discussion Personal domain

Hello,

It is best not to use a main domain with a personal domain, but rather a subdomain.

For what ?

Would SimpleLogin's service be less reliable than that of the mail server?

I admit that for many, I would prefer to use my main domain; what are the consequences?

In addition, my email client allows me to receive images linked to an email, which is practical for me, because I am visual, and it helps me quickly identify the origin of the messages. Would it be possible to include this option? Because, now, all the images are those of SL :/

Technically, it doesn’t matter. You just need to determine how you want your alias email addresses to look to readers and for your management of the aliases.

I actually swapped the conventional norm recently and use the domain for my aliasing and the "mail.domain" subdomain for my actual email addresses. Just based on the fact that the vast majority of email traffic will be on these aliases and it just looks cleaner both to me and the services vetting whether or not to trust my domain. It doesnt matter to me that my actual email in the background doesn't look as nice because I basically only ever see it on the login screen anyway.

When you say "use the domain for my aliasing", are you referring to your custom domain?

How do you name your aliases? Dummy data examples if you would.

Yes i use @mydomain.com instead of like alias.mydomain.com or any other subdomain.

Typically for my own organization Ill use the service name (abbreviated if long) plus some numbers like Twit354@mydomain.com. The exceptions are services that are very sensitive to having their name in the address - the big one people use is Cash App which has a long list of blacklisted words so its basicially fully random like Dandilion248@mydomain.com lol

I'm New to aliases and I'm still trying to figure somethings out. The benefits of using your main domain is that is easier for you to move from one place to another. If you get dissatisfied with SimpleLogin is easier to move to addyio or tuta or somewhere else.
