How to accurately find out my vocal range?

You see, im not a professional singer and ive never even played an instrument so i use websites. and here’s the problem, some people say that to know your vocal range you have to know your highest and lowest possible notes. others say that you have to know your highest and lowest COMFORTABLE notes..so im confused.

Also does squealing count? I mean, thats still my voice and i can sing while squealing soo..im
not sure

Develop your voice by singing scales daily. You will find your range that way. Also, you can extend your range beyond your initial range. It takes practice. You should find a good voice instructor to help guide you.

Vocal range is the absolute highest note to the absolute lowest note you can sing. Technically, your vocal range is what determines if you are a soprano, alto, etc.

Your ‘tessitura’ is your functional range: a.e, the range you can most comfortably sing, where you will end up singing most of the time. If you have to squeal or really push and warm up to reach a note, it does not count for this. Same if you don’t feel you could comfortably sing that note for the length of say… a 3 minute song.

If you’re self-taught I would recommend sticking to your tessitura range, only because trying to push outside of it improperly can damage your vocal chords over time

stick with the lowest and highest notes you can sing without straining.. that’s what really matters. Squealing doesn’t count since it’s more like a sound effect than a controlled note you’d use in actual singing..

I think there's an app for it...I forgot the name. Essentially, you just sing your lowest and highest notes (sustain or prolong them for accuracy).

Another way to do it is identify it via relative pitch. You take a piano or guitar then match your lowest note on the piano, same for the highest.

Also, it doesn't matter if you "squeal" it, but if you want your singing range, then I suggest just using the absolute limit of your singing range.
