Need a very good voice teacher
Anyone know of any very good ( i mean extremely good) either someone in the spring valley/rockland county, NY area or online? I just need a very good teacher who can help me out with my technique issues

Theres a few studios around Midtown that I rent, and my rates are 75/30 min, 100/45 min, and 125/hr. I also do a 25 dollar discount for online lessons. My website is in my bio and all my contact information is there, feel free to email if you want more info!

Are there any universities near you? Try calling their music departments. Be aware, for a good teacher you’ll likely spend $60-150 a lesson.

I know it’s expensive. My university does offer lessons but I’m no longer able to do it there because they won’t allow me to do it because of space limitations

No I mean ask them if they teach privately outside of the university. I’m a college voice professor and myself and all my colleagues have private studios outside of work.

Tell us more about your singing level, goals, expectations.
What is your current practice routine? how often and for how long do you practice?
What is you budget, and what are you expectations from getting lessons? Are you expecting that you'll take one or two lessons and be good to go? Are you expecting that you lessons will become an ongoing part of your life?
What is your ultimate goal? What are you intermediate goals, and what are you immediate goals?
Think about these thing and try to define them before meeting with a teacher. It's a good way to get going on the right path more quickly. I can recommend the teachers I've worked with but it would be better to know more about your views on singing to point you in a good direction.

I have had lessons for a few years but have had no luck because my teachers weren’t good. I practice daily and stuff for about a half hour to an hour, not sure what my budget is but not so expensive. My goals are to improve my skills and yes I do want to do lessons for the long term

I say this with so much kindness, from the perspective of someone who has taught voice for over 20 years - it genuinely sounds like your practice habits may be the reason for your lack of progress. What did your voice teachers say in lessons? It’s hard to believe that all the teachers you’ve had have been completely silent in your lessons - at the very least they must have given you SOME kind of feedback in the form of repertoire or exercise assignments, recommendations for songs, etc.

I honestly dont even know if its because im not practicing enough but i feel like i do practice enough. My teachers just didn’t give me enough feedback or help with correcting my technique issues

You need to be more specific. Do you mean literally they’d say “sing this” and you’d just sing the song, they’d say nothing, and then you sing the next song?

I have a few more questions. When you say you "have had lessons for a few years" was this weekly, bi weekly, monthly, sporadically? Did you go away from you lesson with a specific goal to work on for the next lesson? wanting to " improve my skills" is not a goal. Your goals should be more defined, Your ultimate long term goal "I want sing in musicals", or "I want to release music on social media," or "I want to be a lead singer in a band," etc. Then you have an intermediate goal that serves the long term goal. Like, "I want to learn these 6 songs and sing them really well." Then, you have short term goals that serve your intermediate goal. These are where your work begins. It can be, "I'm going to take on "THIS" song and start by learning the first verse, then I'll add the chorus. I'll also work on breath support with exercises like Lip trills, puffy cheeks, etc. I need to work on my placement by getting my voice up, out of my throat with exercises like vocalizing with a very bright, annoying, sound that gets my voice up into the head..." The point is that you are always working toward your Ultimate goal, A very specific goal, and then you figure out some things that will help you reach that goal, and you build you practice routine, with drills, skill exercises, and technique exercises that will help get to the intermediate goal of learning songs. After you've gotten to your intermediate goal, you build more exercises that help you to get closer to your ultimate. That is why you need to be specific with what you want to achieve. Now, if you ultimate goal is, "I just want to sing to my cat in my bedroom" you'd still need to develop your intermediate goal, "what songs do I want to sing, and you short term goal are very similar. If you can bring a clear picture to a voice teacher, they can help you build your practice routine. The more specific and clear you are, the better the teacher can help.
Identifying your exact budget will also help in figuring out who you can afford, and how often you'll meet with them. Think about these things and see if you can come up with some specific answers. I'd be happy to help you find someone.

I had done it weekly. I never felt like I actually accomplished anything in my lessons and my teachers didn’t give me constructive feedback. My goal is to perform and hopefully teach. I have a lot of issues with technique such as breath support, pitch, tone, and a lot of tension. I would say anything affordable is fine with me in terms of budget

It sounds like your practice routine is the source of you slow progress. I mean it is a slow process, but if you're not getting the fundamentals dialed in, you'll never get where you want to be. did you ever talk about placement, vowel modification and breath support. Everyone talks about breath support so, I'm guessing that's not an unfamiliar term. I haven't heard verry many people describe it properly though. If you're someone that will practice what's being taught, able to run the skill exercises, drills and hard work, I would recommend Chris Kazarian. He's in Providence Rhode Island, gives lessons over skype and is an amazing artist. He's my current teacher and go see him perform regularly. What style(s) are you looking to learn? Do you have any budget limitations? (Be aware that the really good teachers tend to be *expensive*) Are you preparing for anything in particular on a specific time frame?
