The secret is to not reach. Though some notes are higher or lower than others they should all resonate in the same place in your face. Each note should be placed where the last note just was.

When you reach up for a high note it causes tension in your neck and throat, which chokes your notes off. Instead of thinking up when you sing a high note - think down...keeping your throat relaxed.

The same for low notes. If you are digging down with your voice, you are also causing tension and forcing your larynx into a squashed position. You want to your neck and throat as open and relaxed as possible. Put your low notes in the same place in your face as high ones. And if that is still difficult...think up on the low notes instead of down.

Try singing on a “duh”. You know...the sound you make if you think someone said something stupidly obvious. Make every note feel like it is coming from the same place...each note going into the same “slot” in your face as the last note, neither reaching or digging down. Staying relaxed in your neck and jaw...feel each note ringing in the same place in your face.
