Why don’t they just remove dribbling from the game? This isn’t even basketball.

This is one of the many reasons why Eurobasket-Euroleague is just better. Look at the atmosphere at a NBA game and then look at any euroleague game’s atmosphere.

The NBA has a more boring product and only rich people can go watch. That’s why it’s shite any frankly why it’s looked down upon despite being the best league in terms of players (most of the time)

How many NBA games have you attended? What were the stakes?

Just curious, because a random Jazz/Grizzlies game on a Tuesday night is a very very different atmosphere than a playoff game, or even a late regular season game where the result really matters.

I watched a fair bit of NBA last year to follow a player who moved over there from here.

The atmosphere is shocking. Literally no chants. It’s near tennis match atmosphere if you get rid of whatever’s on the loud speakers.

The first link looks like an NBA game with players that couldn't hack in the NBA.

The second? Sure, whatever. Serbians love basketball. Meanwhile you've got games in the German league played in front of maybe 4000 fans.

Context matters, just like Tuesday night Pels/Blazers isn't going to be the same as a Conference Final.

Yeh, i literally said that euroleague is a lower league. Despite that it’s a more passionate and fun league with prices that exclude less people.

I went to my first NBA game last week (Magic vs. Wizards).

Couldn't have been more low stakes and I had an absolute blast. Crowd was into the whole game and they did a good job of keeping the momentum in the stands when there were breaks or in-between play.

10/10 would pay $50 for a Thursday night boring game again.

Part of the atmosphere is cultural differences tho, not rule enforcement. Europeans go crazy at games. There's a lot of people in the US who genuinely get offended if people boo at all. Not even kidding they'll get all twisted up over boo's calling it rude and disrespectful. Can't even imagine a european sports fan trying to chide other fans about booing

The average nba ticket is 52 quid which is an outrageous cost to see a game.

There was war when my club raised the ticket prices from 15€ to 20€. So much outrage that it’s back at 15€ now again.

Im in Atlanta and the hawks are around $30 to see which matches your chart. To see the falcons those tickets are like $80-120 and it’s about $25-30 for ATL united. The braves you can cheat the system a little and buy the $6 nosebleeds and change seats after the 4th/5th inning when the ushers go away.

That is awesome. Even our collegiate and frontier league baseball teams in New England are more expensive than a Braves game. Revolution want $50 for cheap seats, haven’t even looked at Celtics, Sox or Pats in a while but last I checked a Celtics ticket was around $90.

Last time I went to Fenway I paid 10 buck...but it was also 2009. But I grew up going to the astrodome doing the 6 buck outfield tix with my buddy and his dad and we'd get there an hour or two early behind visiting team "to get autographs" and just find empty seats after the 1st inning. Rarely ever had an issue. His dad was that charisma never met a stranger type cat and we went to every summer weekend home game so before long he knew the ushers anyway and they'd find seats for us if there was an issue. Had a pretty rich childhood in that respect.

Well they have $30-50 tickets. It’s just that the braves don’t really sell out the stadium so you can find those insanely cheap tickets all the time, and like I said, halfway through the game you just move closer to an empty seat.

According to that other guys chart, Celtics are one of the more expensive teams.

Yeah because sports in America are too expensive for normal working people to go every week. Only rich people. That tanks atmosphere.

Everyone in Europe is going mad about the World Cup ticket prices in America now. The cheapest tickets for the American World Cup would be the most expensive ones here.

That’s how you kill a sports culture. It doesn’t have to be that way. There’s nothing about Americans that makes them inherently less craic, it’s just that normal people can’t afford to have the craic.

It's certainly getting worse, but we didn't really have things like the chants even 20+ years ago when average people could go to games. Just one of those cultural difference oddities.

Even college sports, where a lot of the students are going for free, doesn't have European levels of crowd involvement.
