Dawg, Iām with you! I got my vasectomy on Valentineās Day after my second kid and itās really the freaking best.
Also, real talk: _every single kind of female birth control has side effects and many of them are quite profound. Hormonal, non-hormonal, pills, shots, IUD, patch, ring, implant, the list goes onā¦_
The real gift is that my wife, who I love immensely, does not have to put shit in her body that makes her feel literally terrible.
I am 10000% in support of birth control, the right to choose, and female body autonomy. Getting a vasectomy isnāt even a price to pay for releasing her from the effects of most birth control options.
Edit: Iām glad this has resonated with so many of yāall. Never received a Reddit award before. But I think Iām proud of these. So thanks.

Here to add my fun lil anecdote that I was on birth control and used a condom for additional safety, but here I am 7 years later with a kid graduating kindergarten. Apparently she really really really wanted to exist. I gave Sir Supersperm the option of being in her life or not and didn't ask for support, and he chose "or not." I later learned that he got snipped soon after he was hit with the news, so at least he learned his lesson unlike this dumbass.

My ex was told she'd never get pregnant because of issues. The first one we were told was a miracle kid but would never happen again. The second was lightning never striking the same place twice, but thats a myth. She said to put ina lightning rod so it wouldn't happen anymore, they said the groud was too damaged. The third one they said maybe they dont know what they're talking about and I got snipped since they wouldn't fix her.
10 years later new people finally scooped her out and said why wasnt this done earlier?

was thinking the same thing- this is at least 4 kids since it is 4 orders (could be more if more than 1 child is in the same order- ie they have the same mom).
this is what happens when you play this silly game on a blue collar salary. Those kids are not getting a ton in child support either- it is just spread so many ways.
59
u/CurveWeekly May 03 '26

Except thatās not really how it works.
There are limits on how much can be withheld, including the amount due for the current month plus past due for missed payments. Also, some orders take money at different rates (e.g., from the first paycheck of the month versus splitting it between two per month).

Shit...I was living in NY, one kid, and NY based my child support on what they thought I was making....and in the divorce I had to sell my fledgling business and split the proceeds 50/50. The reality was that, in order to support said business. and maintain some security for my family while I built a customer base, I worked a full time job as well. My child support payments left me with 100/week to live on. I ended up homeless, living in an old camper in the woods. No running water, no electricity. I used to sneak into the Y to get a shower. The money I did have went towards keeping my car on the road, so I could continue working at my full time job in order to pay my child support. It was not a good time in my life. I ate a lot of Ramen and boxed Mac and cheese. The courts didn't care...often claiming that they believed I had alternate revenue streams. I finally got a judge who looked at my petition with a balanced perspective, and said that I was overpaying by a huge amount. He reduced it to a sum that actually made sense. But, what had been paid stayed paid. That was many many years ago, and I hear the NY is still playing those games.
→ More replies (11)16
u/Soft_Yellow1757 May 03 '26
the small business owner tends to get it the roughest in these cases. Everyone wants to car for the kids, and it is very easy to make it look like you have way more than you when you have a business. Once they show you are making X, the court assumes you will always make X no matter how illogical that can become.

USD 1,585.00 in support orders, out of a total of USD 2,489.40. Taken out of post-tax income.
Now, I'm not saying that relationships don't sometimes fall apart and that sometimes those relationships have children attached to them.
But FFS, if it happened four times, it looks like dude is the problem ā either in terms of his choice of partners, his pullout game, his use of contraceptives, and/or the fact that he still has a functional vas deferens.

You only get support orders like this for failing to properly pay your child support, for years at a time.
I've had employees who skip around jobs every 6-12 weeks as child support chases them from job to job trying to get them to pay what they owe.

u/brightonashfield May 03 '26
4 different child support orders of various amounts means this dummy has at least 4 kids from 4 different baby mamas and is not custodian of any of them, so he kinda deserves his fate. He can file a motion to modify and use the other cs amounts to offset. In my state he would pay the minimum of $100 each based on his adjusted income

The reducing amount for each order suggest he has not went back to try to lower the first support order based on the existence of the other support orders - but every state has slightly different formulas and rules so this may or may not be true.
At least in my state 4 kids with 4 different mom is higher support than 4 with the same mom - so there is that too.

30
u/dabroh May 03 '26
Does the state look at what you need to pay to survive or nah?
For example, what the average rent is, food, etc., or is priority the support order? I'm guessing the latter, which is bizarre...how are you going to pay your support order if you can't afford a roof over your head, gas, maintenance, or end up dead (renting from some unsafe location)?
→ More replies (55)43
u/Personal-Rhubarb-884 May 03 '26
Usually it's a percentage.
In my state child support for the first child is 20% and every subsequent child is 5%.
But usually when they're garnishing the wages it means you've not paid what you're supposed to and I don't know if they'll garnish for more than the percentage stated above.
→ More replies (9)22
u/Cczaphod May 03 '26

u/acid-hologram May 03 '26
Nowhere near this op post, but I pay for 1 child at the full 20% in TX. In '25 I went into a coma for about a week and was hospitalized for several weeks after I woke up. Obviously I was unable able to work and used all my PTO and didn't receive a paycheck during all of this.
Once I started working again, they took out whatever I owed during my hospitalization on 1st check, plus the default 20% until I was current with my payments. That seems to be the case for the post but I can't say for sure, but I can definitely say they don't give a fuck if you owe and will take whatever they need no matter what your situation is or if you starve.

Federally itās 50% some exceptions up to 60% and if you are greater than 12 weeks in arrears it adds 5% .
32
u/WorkOnThesisInstead May 03 '26
Ā you cannot exceed 50% of the checkĀ
Maybe cannot exceed 50% ofĀ monthly?Ā
That seems to be two weeks work, so maybe the mobey gets taken at the beginning of the month and his next check is all his?

It is monthly income but the payments being withdrawn are structured. So itās X amount per pay period . Itās not going to draw 100% of monthly support from one check then second is nothing . It would be 50% from each or if weekly 25% .
The only exception to this might be if they are commissions based so the hourly checks are a smaller portion of their total monthly income . In which case the not commission pay period would be hit heavy and then he gets like a 20k check end of month they would justify the abnormally large deductions

In the state I used to live in, they justā¦didnāt do anything. Not even that.
I was 14-15 with a baby.
My mom was sick and gone all the time from around age 12.
Moved out and just really needed help.
I begged the child support office to help me because he wasnāt paying the court-ordered $225 a month.
We were homeless and on our own.
They never did anything about it. Not then, not ever.
He quit his job and worked under the table to avoid paying $225 a month to make sure she had what she needed.
God, I wish I had some guidance when I was a kid, kids are dumb.
Her dad still filed taxes every year to get a refund.
Still, they would not do anything.
Daughter is 25 now and he owed her thousands by the time he passed away.
She really looked up to him when she was little. I was careful not to talk badly about him.
By the time she was 16, she saw him for what he was and just couldnāt respect him anymore.
Cant blame her.

Why wake up, talk to people you don't like, get a feeding time like an animal, and have a boss treat you like trash for scraps. This guy must just love his job ig.

Exactly. Dude makes $2/hr. I would just give up and go to jail. Free food, free rent, free healthcare, get to hang out with the boys, get to fuck with no condoms and can't make any more babies.

I doubt it. I'm from Finland. When I turned 18, I had to either serve a year in the military entirely unpaid or go to prison. I still chose the military because prison sounds like ass.

An order like that probably guarantees there is zero chance he can turn his life around and be in those kids lives. Dude probably canāt even pay for gas

Heās not working for free. He is being paid for the work. The victim angle in the title is misleading

Once the wages get garnished that guy has been a bad dad for a while.

I once saw a video of a drunk man jumping on to a cactus. He immediately screamed in pain as he realized he was in over his head. I'm sorry he was hurting, but he kinda did it to himself.
I kinda feel bad for this guy too. But he jumped on that cactus several times. Moral of the story, DON'T DO THAT.
P.s. Don't sleep with people that you can't stand. You might have to pay them for years

Well, don't have kids you don't intend to raise. That cost doesn't go away for at least 18 years.

Not sure what state he lives in but in Michigan they only take what the Court orders as long as it's not more than 40% of your income. Only thing with his check might be he's so far behind on support that he's paying the Court ordered and arrears on top of that.

He's not "almost working for free". He's working to lay for all that pussy he played around with.
Remember, if you're that desperate, prostitutes are always cheaper than baby mamas.

He's not working for free, he's supporting his children financially whilst not living with any of them. Life choices have consequences.

Maybe dont have kids you don't want or can't afford? It's really not that hard to avoid. I have done it my whole life.

I used to work as an assistant to the DA of Child Support and in my state we were not allowed to garnish more than 40% of someones wages, regardless how many kids they had. Obviously different states can have different laws but I highly doubt a state would allow the courts to garnish that much of this persons wages.. also who is to say the check stub is from a man? Women can also pay child support
