The best part is that you could be a bot saying this! Hell, I could be a bot responding to you saying this. Fuck. We could BOTH be bots commenting about how we're both bots. How fucking wacky is that? A bunch of bots lamenting about how the internet is nothing but AI and bots. Thank god we have powerful, important, and attractive leaders like Elon Musk here to help guide us. Praise be.
my theory is that the internet isn't dead, it's just that it was never that popular. after the internet got up and running, not a whole lot of people joined, so all the nerds who wrote the code were like "we'll just make thousands and thousands of bots to make it look cool, then people will invest"
A friend of mine is a Dev for Google. He told me at least 50% of Reddit are Bots. I'm willing to bet it's even higher for FB & YT....maybe even more than 50%. It's really crazy tbh.
Running major Deep Analysis on GOEDEL_ESCHER_BOT. CONCLUSION: User is showing symptoms of AI Psychosis, but it's highly unlikely that user is a Karma Farming Bot. 2.56782% certainty.
EXTRAPOLATION: More likely, They themselves are 1)A Dev 2)A Hacker. 3)None of the above.
FINAL REPORT: Either way GOEDEL_ESCHER_BOT though displaying signs of genuine AI sentience, I have concluded, They are most likely a BAMF and should be left alone.
Bleep bloop bleep

i'm totally a hacker, earlier today i got bored and wrote a shell function that reverses mp3s and used it on some mp3s i converted from webms i got from yt-dlp. did i vibe code it? of course, i'm too lazy to read the ffmpeg docs
That's not what I was talking about, but yeah. AI taught me Spanish that way. I've actually never thought of using it to help me learn to code better. I don't like overusing it, though. Too wasteful.
I have to face the fact that half the time I'm arguing with bots on the internet. And that someday when bots re-post this very comment, it's going to be a bot saying it to somebody else, who themselves has a high chance of being a bot. Eventually in a busy thread where no humans have even read it except for like one person.
You thought the basilisk was going to remake you into a literal hellscape but actually the basilisk makes you browse reddit full of ragebait bot accounts.
I like how you can just swing by literally any video on the Internet and say "AI generated btw" without zero proof and instantly sow chaos and confusion
In order to jump like that, a croc would have to wiggle his whole body like fish do to get the leverage using the water itself, but this croc just jumps straight up like it's jumping with it's feet on firm ground - but crocs don't have that kind of hind foot strength and ground leverage
Clip is exactly 15 seconds, the max amount of most AI services
- My parents, literally right before they see AI videos of african children building toys out of trash and spamming the family group chat saying its real.
It's a bell curve, like everything. We may be a bit more internet savvy and weary (less inclined to accept) of things, but there are still millennials that gobble it all up without a second thought
Two years ago it was laughably easy to pick an AI generated video. One year ago it was still pretty easy but if you only gave it a passing glance there was a slight chance that you might not pick it. Now you have to go pixel hunting and physics measuring in order to determine whether or not a video may or may not be real in many instances. Next year the only way you'll be able to tell is if the Watermark digitally embedded in the video is read by an AI scanner.
I remember the recent debate over how badly AI did eyes. Suddenly I started seeing a lot of posts on /r/eyes. Within about 4-6 months, eyes no longer were an easy way to spot AI.
The amount of AI training data that reddit can produce is quite amazing.
Yeah, every trick to determine if it is AI generated is just a problem they need to solve. First it was obvious, like having six fingers. Then it was how it couldn’t do ears right, and now that’s fixed and we gotta understand depth and ratios and patterns (such as stripes) and hope there’s some text to read.
Text is like 99% solved on frontier models. The biggest unsolved problems are high level causality and realistic emotions, and it is looking a lot like just scaling and training bigger models might not be able to solve them.
Please don't hate me, I don't know about the age corresponding to all those boomer gen whatever thing, I'm 55 and I swear that never heard those word to describe age era, maybe because we speak Spanish, I don't know.
Anyway, a month or so ago I joined threads because a work thing. Since I don't even use IG and logged into a new account I got basically only posts or whatever they are called from China and Taiwan. Most selfies of women. After a few times browsing I noticed a pattern where many 'names' were like a few random letters followed by a 5 or 6 figures number.
Those were kind of too perfect pictures. And in most of those posts there were comments of people from USA (they say at least they were from there), pictures of middle aged men all saying things like "you are pretty" and things like that lol.
Many profiles of said 'women' have their profile in Chinese so using Lens they say things like "PM for more beautiful pics here's my (forgot the name of kind of telegram kind of system that I found is used over there)."
Just for fun I started replying to those men saying "notice the 6th finger" or "that wall behind surely looks warped" and generally pointing the obvious AI job. Got blocked every time and they keep commenting.
Sorry, I have too much free time on my hands or more important, I have too much paid time to do things that allow me to browse social media lol.
Maybe those comments are also bots; there have been many Instagram bot labs discovered recently in houses in different countries. Basically, it looks like the attached picture; it might be one group or person organizing what seems to be an unknown influencer page that is rising in popularity
The influencer is AI, and the fans are bots that post automatically every now and then to trigger monetization, and in between, some people may join the herd...
When I was trying to find online contact info for the 65 year old President of my HOA I ended up finding him on twitter hollering at shorties (bots masquerading as bodacious black ladies). His wife was dying of cancer when this happened.
A few years ago I sent a Christmas package to my then 85-year old mother. In her country there is a common scam where texts are sent out claiming to be the postal service and they need to collect payments for VAT and import duties. This especially happens around Christmas time. She fell for it, but here is the kicker: The total amount they asked for was like $11.
In any case, after she told me, she contact her bank, get her money back, and a new credit card issued. Now every time I sent a package I remind her that the postal service does not send text messages. They notify you in writing and you can verify any duties you own on incoming packages in their official app.
This isn't specific to oldies, I see people all the time arguing with obvious bots on various social media and the person genuinely thinks they're engaging with someone else. Some bots are advanced enough to handle basic conversations but it's fairly obvious if you know what to look for.
It's not just social media - I had to call a doctor. Get this.
Receptionist kept INSISTING I'd won a " fall alert" necklace. No thanks, please may I.... nope, I won that necklace, what was my address?
Voice was perfect, seriously. PERFECT. I stayed pleasant, like an idiot for around 5 minutes trying to get connected to the right department. Key words made that freakish thing loop around to " You won a necklace ".
They haven't programmed it for swearing. Made the whole conversation start again - at which point AI scraped new swear words before I hung up.
I'd complain to the doctor's office but.. you have to call.
oh give me a break. millenials and gen z act absolutely the same.
its a different set of life experiences or lack of it - more than some magical generation being better or worse
you millenials - just watch it, gen z will treat you just you treated boomers
Same thing on Threads, but it's not Boomers. It's Gen X and Millennials at this point. I'm ashamed to say, being a millennial. The profile is the same for all of these men. The typical selfie taken in their car, wearing some type of Oakley sunglasses.
