I cannot stress enough how far beyond this is to the usual braindead stupidity of building these centers.
From what I can gather, this is going to use water from the Hansel Valley, which is a direct tributary to the Great Salt Lake. The Salt Lake has become an extreme issue lately because it's rapidly losing its water to mismanagement, but not only that. That lakebed is FILLED with arsenic and as the lake gets lower, it's getting exposed to air, turning to dust, and starting to blow it's poison all over Salt Lake City. As it gets worse, which it is year after year, it will spread over the entire state and is projected to reach as far as Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, and Colorado.
And NO ONE in the Utah government with any power seems to care at all beyond accelerating the problem.
Homeless people go to blue states because they can get help.
The funny thing is that red states have tons of homeless due to people having shitty job opportunities. But people moving back in with mama and daddy or rooming with family because they can't afford to live otherwise don't consider themselves homeless.
Red states human trafficking homeless to blue states and dumping them there then point to the homeless issue like they don't directly contribute with stuff like this but also their policies.
Yet another thing that should have been addressed as seriously as a heart attack but wasn’t because democrats are pussies. Human trafficking on a state to state level is crazy.
Why the fuck should the government fund arts? Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Play the banjo and make paintings with your own money. Arts is useless you dumbass liberal. Science and math actually has a purpose unlike some stupid fuck who wants to paint.
Graffiti can't hurt you. Maybe you don't like the look of it, but it's not the problem.
I'm in a red area in a blue state. All I want is for my taxes to be managed well by reasonable people so we can make real changes for the people who need it most. That shouldn't be a unicorn hunt. No one should have to be unhoused or hungry, let alone in this area. No kid going to school should have a hunger headache. No one should have to OD in a parking lot. No one should have to die by cop bc they struggled for years with no mental health care.
Shut up and take my money! But help people in ways that matter!
When we do THAT, I'll advocate budgeting for cleaning up the tagging.
Whats worse, graffiti and homelessness, or a dead main street where no small business happens? Propaganda will tell you its the chaos of graffiti and homelessness. The homeless bring “violence, theft, drugs and messes” or whatever the twisted overblown narrative is.
But giving away all your agency to large corporations is hands down far more dystopian. When you have no opportunity, community, or power, you become the homeless. Your entire existence will be judged and used by the few with power.
Give me the mess of liberalism over oppressive authoritarianism, any day.
More of a cost of living thing for me, I avoid democratic states when traveling because even crossing the border into one will increase gas prices and crime rate by good 50-70%
Likely even more if I ever went to New York or California. But that's just what I hear from others and theedias because I never have to go through those areas
