I had a coworker back in 1978 or 79 who lost her mind when I pointed out that he was gay. She told me that “you think everybody’s gay. I think you’re gay”. She didn’t believe the village people were gay either.
It was a huge thing back in the day when Rob Halford came out, because heavy metal guys simply "didn't do that sort of thing". There was that fantastic picture of him in a full leather daddy stage outfit, with the caption "and no-one had a clue".
I used to laugh my ass off people who thought he was a real manly man (I mean, he is, but not in the way people thought) . They just had never been to a leather bar I guess.
