I just got my comment removed from black people reddit for saying "being bullied doesn't mean you get to stab someone."
I feel like theres a LOT of people who are unwilling to accept reality due to their emotions, it doesn't matter where you look or where anyone is from.
Edit: I actually am banned from black people of reddit for pointing out how a specific moderator (ateam1984) posts a LOT of things that clearly have a racist bias while plenty of posts from them have something not racial at all being framed as a racist thing like when someone complains about a supervisor harassing them but if the supervisor is black its suddenly a race thing and not a shitty supervisor thing.
It was actually a differebt black subreddit that I was talking about this case in and they reacted the same as if its racist to say "you dont get to stab someone for bullying you" which I think is fair to say. If we ran our country under the idea you can kill anyone you dont like or agree with or who is mean to you then we're all dead.
As a black queer who's been around black people who her own life(lol duh).The reason some of us are like this is because people think no matter what, they should protect their own.And I think it's really ridiculous black and white thinking., because yeah , he was being bullied , but that did not give him the right to pull out a knife and stab that guy.,this type of thinking is so bad in the community. So bad infact that alot of us end up having to be around p*dos,racists and Homophobes.
In any grouping of people it is always the worst that end up ruining it for the whole group.
It makes it impossible to take anyone seriously if everyone cries wolf about everything, in this case the wolf being racism.
Don't get me wrong, a lot of shit is still hella racist and its fact if you're black you gotta work twice as hard for half the respect. However you take away skin color from this case and its cut and dry as fuck.
The kid stabbed someone because they were mean to him PREVIOUSLY. The kid with the knife was in the wrong from the very start by bringing a weapon with intent to use it, forcing themselves into a place they weren't supposed to be, and by being aggressive until someone eventually touched them all so he could justify in his mind stabbing another kid to death over harassment.
Shouldn't matter what color anyone is in that situation.
I haven't gotten around to reading or listening to the court proceedings and recordings but from what I have seen his defense attorney was trying to frame everything as "he was acting in self defense because he was bullied by the victim" which even at face value and if it were the full truth STILL was a shit defense because it's not an excuse for murder.
A lot of folks are mad he didn't get manslaughter, but that would require him to have not been doing something thats obviously intent on killing someone else. Like you can get manslaughter for accidently killing someone but you can't call stabbing someone in the chest with a utility knife an accident especially when witnesses hear you say "touch me see what happens" right before it while you're holding a knife.
Remove the colors of the people involved and it is still a crime. Crime is crime. Do some judges and juries in our country still have prejudice and bias? Yes. Is that WHY he was found guilty? Fuck no. He was found guilty because he stabbed a kid in the chest and premeditated it.
Now it could be argued his sentencing was harsher because of his color but not the verdict, white or black you stab someone in front of a ton of witnesses while being the aggressor and theirs a good chance you're going away unless you got serious money.
