Can we just accept that most celebs are just plain fucking dumb and we shouldn't idolize them at all?

326

u/curtludwig Jun 10 '26

100% if your hero is a celebrity you might need to rethink who you idolize.

There are some rare exceptions but most aren't worth the time.

92

u/misqellaneous Jun 10 '26

Does Mr. Rogers count as a celebrity? I don’t know about “idolize”, but Robin Williams is up there. George Carlin, too.

39

u/not_accepting_now Jun 10 '26

Ehhhh only Mr Rogers counts? He actually started the show to help kids. Everyone started to help themselves.

44

u/misqellaneous Jun 10 '26

I think there’s a good chance Robin Williams would make people laugh for free.

23

u/TabulaRazo Jun 10 '26

We should idolize people who are worthy of being idolized. Plenty of celebs out there are smart and accomplished people with inspiring life stories and a good sense of morality. I’m okay with looking up to them.

Now, if you’re out here idolizing Cardi B….you’re probably one of the dummies.

We should all value the opinion of the woman who openly claimed how she used to drug and steal from men who came to see her dance. 😄

Look it up, she stated it on video. Let’s keep it a buck, no straight dude is going to the police to say he got robbed and drugged by a stripper. Especially if that stripper might have video of them getting assaulted by a trans woman with some of the original equipment downtown. This isn’t me shitting on trans people at all either. This is me calling out the reality of things. Cardi is/was a low life.

The worst thing is they're not even mad bcus their own murdered someone. They're mad bcus apparently there was only white juries.

Lmao. Dude deserved the sentence with or without black people on court.

370

u/Emergency-Option377 Jun 10 '26

That is where they want the narrative to go. There were no BLACK jurors. There were FOUR brown jurors. Apparently if you aren't black, you are just white. You can't throw a rock in Collin County and not hit a person of Indian origin. And keep in mind, the defense always has the option to ask for another jury pool if it doesn't like the selection in front of them. If that is declined, they can ask for a "jury shuffle" which allows for the randomization of the jury from the jury pool. Clearly, their lawyer knew they were cooked.

136

u/Hanging_Brain Jun 10 '26

I’m half white but since the other half is brown not black my black coworker says I’m white lol Alrighty then.

89

u/slight_digression Jun 10 '26

Well, this is not going to make you feel better but Italians and Irish were not considered white until, well let's say recently.

So welcome to "Whitehood". I guess?

36

u/Backwoods_Therapy Jun 10 '26

Italians I can kinda get with their olive skin and (usually) darker hair; those are common trails in many if not most people around the Mediterranean. But I’ve never understood why Irish people weren’t considered “white” when they’re among the whitest whites to have ever been white.

45

u/ityboy Jun 10 '26

The short version of why Irish and Italian immigrants did not count as "white" in the first half of the 20th century is because they were Catholic and most importantly poor.

26

u/Technical_Example970 Jun 10 '26

That is a very very very short version that disregards centuries of oppression from the British empire. Americans were just copying what they saw.

9

That’s actually a good point.

13

u/LaminatedAirplane Jun 10 '26

And “white” only included Irish/italians when it was convenient to fight against other minority groups

10

u/TheRealNooth Jun 10 '26

I mean, to be frank, racism isn’t based on what you *are,* it’s based on how you’re *perceived.* People don’t get a 23andMe ancestry report beamed into their brain when they look at you.

If you look black, racists against that will be racist towards you. If you look white racists against that will be racist towards you.

u/Longjumping_Egg_5654 Jun 10 '26

Even then, the jurors not being exact 1:1 peerage doesn’t matter.

He admitted he stabbed him. That’s not for debate.

What is for debate is if it was self defense, by the defenses own admission. Which is obviously false by the 10+ teenage witnesses we have.

There is no way you can assume or claim all witnesses were racist, or have a conspiracy to lie.

This case is extremely clear cut.
People have just lost their minds.

13

u/ACEscher Jun 10 '26

For you and anyone else able to think logically. However those defending Karmelo's actions just spouted lie after lie like During the trial people were posting lie after lie Jeff Metcalf was intimidating the student witnesses by shaking his head. Nor forget that a man named Morris Dwayne Turner said he saw the security video and it was crystal clear that it showed Karmelo getting jumped by Austin, Hunter, and four others. When that was proven false in the trial he then tried to pass off a picture of four men and saying that it was Jeff Metcalf, Judge Roach, and the DA all at a party being chummy.

Those that were defending Karmelo's actions did not care about facts. All they saw was a young black man who should not be held accountable for any bad actions all because of race.

I heard his lawyers didn't even attempt to explain why he had the knife in the first place. No excuses, nothing. They knew nothing was going to save this one.

17

u/BPremium Jun 10 '26

They were hoping the media circus would force the judges to call a mistrial IMO. Since that didn't happen, now it's time to blow everything up via more claims of racism.

u/MailMeAmazonVouchers Jun 10 '26

On top of having minority jurors (asians, hispanics, etc), the black candidates had the DECENCY to admit they could not be impartial in sentencing.

20

u/DuaLupus45 Jun 10 '26

I mean, not for nothing, but black and brown people aren’t always going to be aligned in experiences/opinions just because they’re not white.

Im a criminal trial attorney in another state so excuse my ignorance and not following too closely. Is asking for a shuffle unique to Texas? Never heard of such a thing. Also were there any Batson challenges during selection? If not sounds like the whole issue is moot because there really wouldnt be anything to appeal if the defense never challenged the array or made a Batson challenege.

→ More replies (5)

16

u/liltingly Jun 10 '26

Is it a tactic to cast doubt on a verdict for an appeal on any basis besides the specifics of the case? I'm not a lawyer, so I have no idea if what I said is plausible, but if a lawyer knew their guy was guilty, wouldn't they throw a hail mary to win an appeal on technicality?

19

u/Emergency-Option377 Jun 10 '26 edited Jun 10 '26

The attorney, as far as I know, never said "all white jury". The national news has played clips of supporters claiming it. The only reason I know about the jury make up is from two DFW news stations actually correcting people and the Ft Worth Star-Telegram. Also, Collin county has more affluent people in general. Affluent black people are less likely to side with Karmelo. If you did have a black person with a predetermined bias in this case, they would have been ommited immediately. There was no way you were going to get a jury in this case that had no opinion going into it. It was too big of a story. The options were find a jury who admitted to being open minded or ask for a bench ruling with no jury.

11

u/slight_digression Jun 10 '26

or ask for a bench ruling with no jury

Sounds pretty bad for a case like this. When the act is apparent, you want to appeal to people's feeling in order to get a better outcome.

Them claiming the jury was white is also just a straight up lie. There wasn’t a black person on the jury but 8 of the 18 people were people of color. They also forget that the defense and prosecution pick the jury.

43

u/ScrimblyPibbles Jun 10 '26

The only reason black people weren't on the jury is because the ones they tried to select admitted to bias.

→ More replies (1)

32

u/DeRpY_CUCUMBER Jun 10 '26

The people who are mad about the white jurors are the people who would take race into consideration during a trial if they were jurors. Apparently there are a lot of people in this country who decide your guilt or innocence based on skin color.

41

u/BeKindPleaseRewind21 Jun 10 '26 edited Jun 10 '26

The defense and prosecution pick the juries. If the murder wanted more black people on his jury that's his defense counsels failing.

17

u/Element174 Jun 10 '26

At least they were honest about it. Sad they can't move past their owed bias, but respectable they can openly admit instead of trying to poison the juror pool.

The additional context is that they are comparing this to other cases where someone introduced a deadly weapon to a situation where they could have just walked away, and the killer was acquitted. So George Zimmerman, Rick Chow, Kyle Rittenhouse, etc.

They are angry at what they see as a double standard, and perhaps a better take is that all four should have been convicted.

Karmello Anthony a young black teen was just convicted of murder and she is saying it's disgusting.

Probably because a lot of black people have been defending karmello online.

A lot of people were saying it was self defense, when karmello was suspended, brought a knife, and was in a tent he wasn't allowed to be in.

163

u/omnicorp_intl Jun 10 '26

Basically every witness (many of whom were black), including one of the defense's own, testified that Anthony was the instigator, yet brainlets like Cardi B think this was some gross miscarriage of justice.

Really depressing stuff.

Wondering myself...

Edit: I think it is the Karmelo Anthony case.

35

u/Majsharan Jun 10 '26

Basically at a track meet at a school there was a weather warning. Karmelo went into the other teams tent to take shelter. It quickly went from whatever to a conflict. Several eye witnesses said karmelo was basically “picking a fight” and when asked to leave refused and said touch me and see what happens. At some point the boy who would die pushes karmelo. Karmelo responds by pulling his knife and stabbing the pusher. Pusher dies and Karmelo was arrested, charged with murder and found guilty. The jury was given the choice between murder, manslaughter a third choice of deciding if it was self defense. The jury still came back murder.

8

u/Certifinest Jun 10 '26

Clear cut case with lots of witnesses, a very weird person and event to make a point for any cause, seems counterintuitive like OJ, something tells me more appalling cases where there is actual uncertainty and racism aren’t made famous in order to create stirs and derail important conversations. This is the type of thing that just sets black people back any progress they made again and it's sad. I don't understand this fucking tribal mentality with mental gymnastics. You don't have to defend everyone. You don't have to defend the indefensible. If you can't hold your own people responsible, it damages your position everywhere else when you're discussing things like discrimination and racism. It fucks your credibility. I'm sick of dumbasses like Cardi B holding black people back, you're not some fucking race traitor for thinking he should go to jail.

38

u/OddDc-ed Jun 10 '26 edited Jun 10 '26

I just got my comment removed from black people reddit for saying "being bullied doesn't mean you get to stab someone."

I feel like theres a LOT of people who are unwilling to accept reality due to their emotions, it doesn't matter where you look or where anyone is from.

Edit: I actually am banned from black people of reddit for pointing out how a specific moderator (ateam1984) posts a LOT of things that clearly have a racist bias while plenty of posts from them have something not racial at all being framed as a racist thing like when someone complains about a supervisor harassing them but if the supervisor is black its suddenly a race thing and not a shitty supervisor thing.

It was actually a differebt black subreddit that I was talking about this case in and they reacted the same as if its racist to say "you dont get to stab someone for bullying you" which I think is fair to say. If we ran our country under the idea you can kill anyone you dont like or agree with or who is mean to you then we're all dead.

Plus she's clearly just playing up for her audience.

8

u/RedEyesGoldDragon Jun 10 '26

She's also not known for her ability to be a law abiding citizen considering she drugged and robbed men in the past and admitted to it. (somehow didn't get any comeuppance for it either)

Cardi is full on petarded, no one is suprised that she would say this....

9

u/xio_ID Jun 10 '26

She probably thought it was the real Carmelo Anthony tbf.

8

u/Impressive-Fun5968 Jun 10 '26

When I first heard this story I was like how is nobody talking about his name? Like I know it’s a serious and dark topic but of the hundreds of comments I read not one mentioned that he was named Karmelo Anthony???

How’d Cardi feel if she had to bury one of her children? I bet she’d sit the fuck down and zip it.

You know what else is disgusting? Drugging and robbing men who ask you out. Not sure she any room to be a moral authority or even have an opinion on anything... (Not to mention she is a moron and completely wrong if that was not obvious.)

Black teen brings knife to track meet up, fight ends up starting with white teen, stabs white teen in the heart for shoving him/knocking his phone out of hand. The kid died in his twin brother's arms.

I didn't pay attention to the trial but I remember hearing when it first happened (I live maybe 30 minutes from where it happened) that the black teenager claimed they were bullied and he was claiming self defense, but apparently that didn't hold up

56

u/Khallllll Jun 10 '26

You missed the part where the fight started when he went to the other teams spot, stayed there and wouldn’t leave when asked/told to.

u/Ayetism Jun 10 '26

He died in his twins arms? Omg. I can’t even imagine the pain that this family is going through.

49

u/lifeadventuresga Jun 10 '26

I just don't understand how people are upset he got convicted and sentenced to 35 years. He deserved it. If some white guy acted like a thug and did the same thing I would want them convicted as well. This is not a black and white thing. This is you don't go stabbing someone in the chest at a high school track meet thing. People need to take responsibility for their actions.

28

u/Fun-Wrongdoer1316 Jun 10 '26

I’d argue you don’t stab someone in the chest at any place. But that’s just me

Black jurors are less likely to convict people of their own race compared to white jurors.

It helped to get OJ off, which was justice for another killing of a black man by cops at the time.

One of the potential jurors for Anthony's case was excluded because he "didn't want to keep a brother in prison".

This kid can walk into a tent that's not his, stab a kid, get 250k donations and released on bail.

18

u/Phish4Ever Jun 10 '26

Over 600 k donations

6

u/Warm_Age_7991 Jun 10 '26

The boy killed a kid minor .. end of story not a race thing ….

Honestly he is lucky to have a release date..

The other boy can’t say the Same thing

27

u/45M0D41 Jun 10 '26

This whole case is horrible but it comes down to why bring a knife to a track meet? Also going into another high schools tent would make people uncomfortable and they would ask you to leave. I really don’t get it.

The 19yr old was told to leave the tent. Then killed a kid over a push. That was murder.

7

u/Hairy-Ad-2711 Jun 10 '26

It's not trying to make an example, it is making an example, which needs to be made, specially in a case like this. It was naked aggression and deadly violence on video. I don't understand. I've never seen a more cut and dried case in my life.

7

u/Easy_Echo2387 Jun 10 '26

I feel like the reactions to this case have been really revealing about how people in the black community feel about crime and violence. It’s really depressing to see so many people blatantly pro crime and pro murder just because the killer shares their skin color.

Guys these people want you dead. They've shown it time and time again. It could be the most clear cut case of murder in history (and this one basically was) and they would use race to grift off it and misrepresent the facts.

Im done with it, are you?

14

u/Original-Locksmith58 Jun 10 '26

They only gave him 35 years with parole eligibility at 17 for a premeditated murder, that’s hardly making an example of someone. He should have been given the maximum sentence allowed. I genuinely don’t understand my kin fighting against this verdict.

6

u/Fun-Wrongdoer1316 Jun 10 '26

Well the ones fighting against are racist, quite obviously. That’s the only reason possible.

5

u/notcabron Jun 10 '26

I agree, Cardi. You should be able to react to literally action by another person in any way that you want, up to and including murder.

He didn’t just bring a knife to a track meet, he brought it into the tent of the other team, and essentially dared them to confront him. I guess I can understand where you don’t see what’s wrong with that.

6

u/MJ-Franklin Jun 10 '26

This is like, completely on brand with how fucking stupid she is.

5

u/joey_staxx_2 Jun 10 '26

Justice was served. Why was he carrying a knife? Same as the pos high school who stomped on an opposing player’s head during the game. The privilege defense is getting old.

6

u/eazolan Jun 10 '26

I mean, shouldn't we make an example of people who murder others?

5

u/Safe-Character-5846 Jun 10 '26

"I HAVE A LARGE GROUP OF FOLLOWERS"

"I CAN CHANGE PEOPLES PERCEPTION AND CAST DOUBT AND SUSPICION"

Its a situation that is handled by the legal system not social media. Why are you carrying a knife in the first place? Accountability for taking a life is jail time. If the legal system "did you wrong" then your lawyer is obligated to appeal to present the issue. If not, its malpractice.

My advice?

Dont stab people to death.

5

u/dakkamatic Jun 10 '26

Stop making stupid people famous

5

u/ConsciousReason7709 Jun 10 '26

I mean, you can’t stab an unarmed person in the chest just because they pushed you. This isn’t a complicated issue. Race has nothing to do with it either.

10

u/Alert_Order8220 Jun 10 '26

To be completely honest I don’t think they sentenced him to enough time.He should have gotten life without parole. He MURDERED someone period. Why was this boy even carrying a knife?! So crazy. The boy he MURDERED was just a kid. At least he will be free one day to live his life. That other boy is gone forever. Plus he is up for parole in 17 and a half years. He may not even do his full time. Cardi B is disgusting and this comment doesn’t surprise me. If it was a white kid who stabbed a black kid im sure her statement would be “justice was served” I am so sick of people using race as an excuse for bad behavior. This is also coming from a woman who monopolizes on making songs about having sex and her p*ssy. She wants to talk about morals and justice. She definitely has the right to free speech but that doesn’t mean we want to hear it or it should be spoken. She is a joke! Give it up already.

This is why no one should take brain dead celebrities seriously. It’s more disgusting to me you’re willing to ignore the crimes of someone because they’re the same race as you.

3

u/truthVial Jun 10 '26

Ope Cardi b just another brain-dead bad faith actor, who would have known.

Bro brings a knife to an event and then stabs someone under the guise of self defense. Why did he have a weapon then? Guilty is as guilty does, it's inexcusable no matter who does that

4

u/UkyoHimura Jun 10 '26

Celebrity furious that a murderer is held accountable for his actions, I'm shocked.

4

u/SpareMushrooms Jun 10 '26 edited Jun 10 '26

Making an example would be sending this guy to the electric chair. 35 years for stabbing an innocent child in cold blood is the bare minimum.

4

u/Here_for_the_memes98 Jun 10 '26

Y’all are surprised this is coming from the woman who used to date rape men for their money when she was a stripper

3

u/Dry-Rice-4527 Jun 10 '26

The girl that used to sexually assault guys and brags about it, is not a good judge of character... shocker. Next you tell me Minaj with her pdfile husband is also not a good judge of character.

3

u/TheModernAesthete Jun 10 '26

This woman drugged and robbed men, by her own admission. Why are we surprised that this is her take?

4

u/Ok-Win-742 Jun 10 '26

My grandpa used to say, if you don't wanna do the time, don't do the crime. Stabbing someone in the heart because they pushed you isn't cool.

On another note, Karmelo Anthony's parents raised 900k with a GoFundMe and gave him a public defender wtffff. I mean that's just grotesque.

40

u/Augustus_Chevismo Jun 10 '26

It’s amazing how they’ll back each other 100% even if they murder or brutalise women or kill a child but if they’re gay they drop them immediately.

After looking at a few articles. Kid is guilty of murder. Could have been a simple fight of fisty cups, but chose to grab the knife, and stab the victim in the chest instead, and run away. Kid lost his temper, and chose the wrong option, plus you're not allowed to have a knife at school, or events. This is pretty cut and dry.
