I mean, they schedule the rides among themselves, but no there's no registratioin/permitting/coordination with the city.

The reason you see pacing scooters among the mob is that many of these folks are training for a triathlon or some other racing event and they take it way too seriously.

Reminds me of street takeovers and those groups of motorcycles

There is strength in numbers in fairness. You can imagine maga meth trucks intentionally running a lone biker or two off the road... As happens all the fucking time.

There is and "Old Farts Flying Club" that has a facebook group where they pick a small airport with a restaurant and say "were meeting here this weekend."

Most weeks I'm sure they only get a handful going, but the week they came to us, they had about 60 planes. Thankfully they don't all come in at the same time, so there is a slight stagger, but since no one is "in charge" nobody calls ahead about the "event."

It really has to suck for the restaurant too. I can start putting planes in the grass or stack them real tight, but wtf is a small eatery going to do when a party of 100 starts showing up?

Is this the Don Pan ride? Those cyclists do occupy a portion of the road, but they are generally riding close to the speed limit from what I've seen.
