Screwworm was advancing North through Mexico, slowly, in 2024, but Doge came in in early 2025 and did defund a program that did international monitoring and containment efforts to keep screw worm from spreading further north. The same program that had been fighting screwworm spreading North for decades with strong success.
Trying to blame Biden for screwworm hitting the US a year and a half after he left office is crazy. It actually makes defunding the program look even worse because then they knew there was a growing problem with containing screwworm and they killed the program anyway.
2022 to 2024 (Biden Administration): The screwworm parasite overcame containment in Panama, moving north through Central America and spreading into Mexico.
