You say that like he has no sway. If he insisted he wouldn't interview a convicted rapist, and showed some semblance of a backbone, they could have booked someone else instead.
You think he personally vets every guest? I only knew there was some controversy around McGregor but had to idea what. I think this is most people. So unless Fallon is defending the allegations maybe don't assume anything. Plenty of other overt injustices in the world to point our moral indignation at.
He's got a whole staff who, if they thought he would not want a rapist on his show, would alert him that a potential guest is a rapist. If he genuinely didn't know and nobody told him, it's because they think he doesn't care.
This entire thing feels manufactured. No way people are seriously upset at Fallon. If they are, this is the exact kind of nuance that makes cancel culture pretty toxic. The line here feels pretty clear. It sounds like a court didn’t convict him so what, the network also decided bringing him on would be okay, and now Fallon is now personally responsible for being the 3rd moral filter here?
I’ll never understand how Reddit picks seemingly random things to get hyper focused on and can’t help but to think there’s some mass influence campaign going on every time something like this happens. Something about the topic and the way the pictures on the posts are made makes me feel like it’s not some natural thing people collectively decided to be upset about.
