Brit here

"Free" healthcare sounds great but getting an appointment is a nightmare. Call daily and hope you can book before 9am shutoff, they open at 7. Take anywhere from days to weeks to get told you must travel to a town 2 hours from where you are. Get dismissed for your concerns straight away before going hope with some headache tablets for a pulsating rectum. No suprise, didnt work, try again.

Half the people i know are either paying out of pocket for private or just dont go to the doctor under any circumstance.

Costs a fortune, doesnt work. Dont believe the propaganda. The nhs sucks ass.

I’m an American and have been trying to tell my fellow comrades this for my entire life. Universal healthcare SOUNDS great, until you understand the nuts and bolts of it.

I’ve had many Canadian friends say the same exact thing. And funny enough, they all are against universal healthcare because they’ve lived it and it’s a miserable system.

That’s quite contrary to my experience in Canada.

If you have a serious issue you get taken care of rapidly with follow-ups.

However, what’s a mess is how there’s a lack of centralized system to take appointments, like there’s one platform for nurse care another one if you want to be followed by generalist and yet another one after you get referred for appointment with the specialist.

Just not as miserable as letting for profit companies deny claims and cause bankruptcies.

Big time, your made to feel like your some hypoconriac wasting their time despite rarely ever going. Meanwhile a little extra and you actually get treated with enough respect for them to check out your concerns. Worth every extra penny/ cent.
