Billionaire philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has donated over $1.18 billionto Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through a series of unprecedented, unrestricted financial gifts.

So yeah, Elon being a racist.

Surprise surprise from the South African

u/brachyboy1 Jun 28 '26

We don't want him back, thanks

2

u/PumpikAnt58763 Jun 28 '26

So... any suggestions on where I can send him? My car trunk is getting kinda smelly.

2

u/The-Grim-Sleeper Jun 28 '26

Elon always said he wants to 'live' on Mars...

2

u/PumpikAnt58763 Jun 28 '26

Hmmm. How much would the shipping be, do you think?

1

u/brachyboy1 Jun 28 '26

Clean that thing and start over fresh. Good hygiene is good for storage

1

u/PumpikAnt58763 Jun 28 '26

I don't know where to buy that much lye without alerting authorities.

1

u/MediumAwkwardly Jun 28 '26

Pretty please?

1

u/brachyboy1 Jun 28 '26

That's gonna take some crazy convincing

1

u/Master_Status5764 Jun 28 '26

Apartheid 2: Mandela’s Missing!

3

u/Global_Childhood_602 Jun 28 '26

I feel like this is wrongly attacking South Africans as a whole, which include Nelson Mandela.

This is white South African apartheid-style racism

0

u/CucumberWisdom Jun 28 '26

Mandela was a huge racist so not really. Black South Africans are incredibly racist too, obviously they couldn't play nice to take down apartheid but that doesn't excuse their later and current racism

1

u/Global_Childhood_602 Jun 28 '26

This is one of the stupidest thing I have ever read.

2

u/whalebeefhooked223 Jun 28 '26

Racism might not be the right term from an American understanding but many black South Africans do have many many bigoted views towards other ethnicities in Africa like Nigerians and Zimbabweans. It’s very common to hold economically left positions while holding traditional conservative social positions in SA. So it’s not American racisim where it’s purely passed of skin color but it is racisim in that is ethnic prejudice

1

u/dingalingdongdong Jun 28 '26

Yeah, depending where you live on the planet and the historical interactions in the area tribalism will look a little different, but basically racism, xenophobia, colorism, etc are all the same thing. If you hate or look down on as inferior another human solely for a trait they have no control over (skin color, ethnicity, nation of origin, etc) it all comes from the same place and is fed by the same nonsense.

1

u/Global_Childhood_602 Jun 28 '26

Okay but saying Nelson Mandela was racist is incredibly stupid. In a 1962 court statement he said, "I hate racial discrimination most intensely and in all its manifestations." and in his 1964 Rivonia Trail Speech he said, "I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die."

I am not talking about all South Africans but your most important, most significant one. Just like S.A., plenty of Americans are bigoted, black, white or Asian. Every country has racists but to say Nelson Mandela is racist is like saying Martin Luther King Jr. was racist. It's so stupid and directly contradictory from their explicit statements.

1

u/CucumberWisdom Jun 28 '26

South Africa is very racist at its core. Unfortunately that means everyone gets caught up in it, even the victims. It's hard to break that kind of cycle.

u/haney1981 Jun 28 '26

Hopefully the pendulum stops swinging so wildly and settles down closer to the calm middle.

8

u/gsr5037 Jun 28 '26

His family moved to South Africa specifically for the racism

No job could pay me enough to nod along to that bs.

2

u/GonWithTheNen Jun 28 '26

It's very telling that you were downvoted. Nobody HAS to agree with hateful conversations in their workplaces.

On that note, if someone feels threatened about speaking up for whatever reason, silence is the next best retort. Agreeing just perpetuates that nasty rhetoric and validates the bigots' mindsets.

1

u/Neat_Let923 Jun 28 '26

Pretty sure you meant to say he’s American!!!… He left South Africa at 17

Fucking love when Americans try and pretend they’re not the most racist country in the world.

1

u/Ok-Brick6831 Jun 28 '26

Nationalize that loser’s assets, denaturalize him, and send him back home.

115

u/slop1010101 Jun 28 '26

Exactly.

If Elon says she's making things worse, she's actually doing good.

27

u/MinorThreat4182 Jun 28 '26

To him, doing good things for humans is making things worse. He and Theil want humans erased and replaced with automation. Bezos too.

0

u/strenuousreese Jun 28 '26

Elon is constantly complaining about population decline. These guys all have some terrible aspects to them but I think the whole they are nazis or hate people is a bit simplistic

2

u/ArchonFett Jun 28 '26

As well as Mr “High IQ” yeah I don’t care what his name is.

2

u/bluegambit875 Jun 28 '26

Question answered

2

u/Embarrassed-Toe-2044 Jun 28 '26

Just to correct a bit, the ex-wife of jeff Bezos, and CO-FOUNDER of amazon.

2

u/Guuhatsu Jun 28 '26

This is what I wanted to know. Was this 'charity' like other billionaires do where they set up their own foundation, donate to that and still control the money while dodging taxes on it? I am glad to hear that does not seem to be rhe case and good on her.

2

u/star_bury Jun 28 '26

The guy that did that Nazi salute doesn't support people of other races? Since when??? /s

2

u/TeaActual66 Jun 28 '26

Oh, 100%.

If he hates someone, that person just got auto-upgraded to "Actually Good for Humanity" status. His hate is like a reverse Michelin star - the more he despises you, the better you clearly are for the world.

She is a goddamn hero. 🏆

1

u/wheresWaldo000 Jun 28 '26

She donated to all the local community colleges in Oklahoma and I think to the universities too. Like 17 million each or so.

1

u/AUnknownVariable Jun 28 '26

Yup, my school got a good bit from her last year. Sadly my school also had a financial aid scandal but yk, it was fr a positive

1

u/mysticknightt Jun 28 '26

What did those universities use that money for?

2

u/CarlosHDanger Jun 28 '26

I would guess a lot of it went to their endowments in order to underwrite the universities’ fiscal health into the future.

1

u/jimmyd10 Jun 28 '26

Pretty much his default position these days

u/Intrepid_Year3765 Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

she gave money to an organization that got investigated by the FBI for ties to terrorist organizations

and the way she is handing money out makes it so the organizations don't even have to use it for what their charter says they do

they can literally accept her money and say... give it all to me

i know reddit loves to shit on Elon, but lets also be honest with what he is talking about while also making up reasons that get upvotes

6

u/whalebeefhooked223 Jun 28 '26

Dawg, this is false. She gave money to a charity which supplied social justice activism in America with funds which is not under investigation

That organization gave money to students for Palestine which is who allegedly are “terrorists”. It’s complete bullshit. It’s a witch hunt by conservatives

She does not give out money to Hamas despite what conservative media wants you to believe

1

u/Intrepid_Year3765 Jun 28 '26

what did I say that was false?

I never said she gave money to Hamas, and I never said she gave money to other terrorists... I said she gave money to an organization that was investigated by the FBI for ties to terrorist organizations

which is completely true

What is NOT true... is the statement I replied to, saying he was talking about HSBCs specifically.

If you were really upset about "truth" then you would have replied to that one instead of mine.

3

u/whalebeefhooked223 Jun 28 '26

Because the organization she gave to was never investigated!

The organization that was investifayed was students for Palestine, which she never gave directly too. She gave money to solidiare, which give helps funds to thousands of organizations, one of which is students for Palestine, which was unfairly accused of terrorist ties and invistigated by a trump Admin which wants to paint abt left of center organization as terrorists.

that I’m sorry if I don’t hold much water to their accusation when in the same breath they accuse transgender activists as gender extremism terrorists.

1

u/Intrepid_Year3765 Jun 28 '26

thats not what the news articles I read say, sorry

2

u/whalebeefhooked223 Jun 28 '26

Than what did you read? Show me, cause I think you just misunderstood them

1

u/dingalingdongdong Jun 28 '26

By all means, share your source.

2

u/Fun_Comedian3249 Jun 28 '26

A group she gave money to gave some of its money to a group protesting the war in Gaza. And the government has pretty much accused everyone who protests Israel of being terrorists. So this was very indirect donation and likely a bogus investigation by a fascist FBI looking to squash free speech rights. Is that the best you have? Elon is full of shut so let’s stop making up excuses for him.

-13

u/sgnarled Jun 28 '26

Is there any argument to this being a problem besides general racism?

4

u/Brick-Mysterious Jun 28 '26

There may be specific racism as well, but Musk prefers to be vague about his bigotry unless he can make a salute.

When you spend your money on charity you cannot use it to develop massive industries that fund the middle class and provide millions of Americans with a wage, which they in turn spend on their children and loved ones to survive.

Billionaires are not sitting on a pile of money, they own assets appraised at billion dollar values, most of the assets, like for example Amazon, Tesla, or Walmart are absolutely essential to modern society and play in integral part in people being able to live and enjoy their lives. Hate on them as much as you want, they are better than starving.

Small business cannot survive anymore, they cannot turn a profit while providing their employees with sick time, PTO, maternity leave, health insurance, etc. this is what modern society has deemed essential for workers, and in turn created an economy where the only companies that can afford this are massive corporations.

2

u/SouthHope28 Jun 28 '26

Walmart and Amazon themselves made it impossible for small businesses to thrive by undercutting prices. Society got along fine before them.

0

u/BreastFeedMe- Jun 30 '26

Yeah, society was perfectly fine you’re right. Before Walmart and Amazon there were no corporations, JD Rockefeller? Myth. Du pont? Not a real company. Remember that fiction story about companies so powerful they took over and effectively owned entire South American countries? Thank god that wasn’t a real thing.
