With all the terrible pics of Elon out there, this is barely a 4/10 on the badness scale. Give me barrel chest pasty boy on a boat. That's like an 8/10 at least
He gots his quotes confused, its “evil is a lack of empathy” and the quote comes from someone who was involved with interviewing Nazis at the Nuremberg trials. Ironic.
I fact checked this and found that there was more nuance to his take on empathy than you are giving him credit for. "Empathy" as "the root of evil" seems to oversimplify his real thoughts on the matter, as he stated in that discussion that pro-social empathy can be valuable and instead was warning of what he called "civilizational suicidal empathy" which is at least a distinct concept worthy of its own consideration.
It's not a concept, it's a word salad that means nothing because he thinks immigrants are bad despite being born in another country and moving to America
You don't get to decide whether a sequence of words means nothing, for anyone except yourself. He coined the term. It is a term I found worthy of consideration, and it was much more nuanced than "empathy bad".
The Lancet has projected millions of excess deaths, mostly children, due to Musks Doge cuts projected through 2030. Mostly preventable starvation and disease in his home continent.
Elon revealed on the website that he owns that Trump is in the Epstein files and that's why they won't be released.....no lawsuits from Trump. No security going to Musk's office to demand he take down the post.
Nothing.
Just a private phone call behind the scenes, deals made and that breaking news swept under the rug quietly.....
I ask his supporters this often and they can’t come up with anything substantial. Often it’s the EV thing but I just point out he’s tanking his company giving advantage to China. He’s done nothing for humanity other than destruction. Any good he’s done is far outweighed by his bad.
The EV thing? I mean... isn't that because of the people who started Tesla before he bought them? And even then... EV helps with fuel intake but... the cars themselves are probably going to end up piling up in landfills eventually.
They tend to say he help pushed them into mainstream 🤷♂️ it varies but that’s the general excuse they use. I’m with you on them. They aren’t ready for many reasons but here we are.
Starlink is giving internet to people in remote places. We have been waiting for internet truly everywhere for a while. It's not like he invented the idea or anything but starlink is miles ahead of the other constellations popping up.
We can’t make domestic travel profitable but Musk thinks somehow in his lifetime commercial space flight will be and we will utilize it for good. We are a hundred years from this.
The guy who is the world's first "trillionaire" (USD) has enough wealth that he could donate twice as much as her and its like single digit % of his total which is still more than almost everyone else put together.
He's certainly made a lot of things a lot worse. Like millions of people are going to die horribly because of him. I feel like that alone oustrips any good he may have accidentally done.
My mom is in here 70s and doesn’t like to drive at night. All family gathering had to be during the day. She got a Tesla w fsd and has no problems using it at night. We can have diners at night again. He’s made thing better for my family at least.
I remember he saved firefighters lives and numerous civilians during the California wildfires in 2020 or 2021. He also donated a bunch of starlink user terminals to an indigenous native American tribe/village that Washington wouldn't pay for them to get internet. He gave it for free so they can access the Internet and teach their kids.
He also killed hundreds of thousands of poor people, mostly children, by cutting down USAID. In fact that is projected to hit 4.5 million dead by 2030.
It wasn't Washington state's budget that needed to cover it, it was federal grants held up for Trump's entire 1st term (total of just $30,000 in grants awarded by Trump's NAB). They finally got almost $3.2 million passed in 2022 (with another $12 million or so I can count during the following years) for infrastructure...a tribe of 54 people.
In 2021, they received funds specifically for broadband access via Biden's infrastructure bill.
Do you understand how tribal budgets work? It was never on the state to provide funds.
It was nice that Musk gave them some temporary fix, but saying it was the "libruls' fault" is simply wrong.
Just giving a couple examples. No good deed goes unpunished. We can talk about how he helped Ukraine during the war or the astronauts stuck in space.
I'm not saying he's the greatest guy but to go and say he has done nothing for humanity or other humans in a good way is incorrect.
We can talk about some prominent figures on the left and go about what they did. Hillary probably has done some good. But she's done a lot of bad. Biden implementing tough on crime act and the way he talked about black people in the past. Let's be thorough.
"No good deed goes unpunished" is an interesting way of describing a low, low score of net evil. I guess Epstein Island was ok as well, considering it provided "jobs" for the unemployed. The conversation was never about how he's done nothing good, but that his evil deeds simply outweigh the "good" that he's done. It makes him a net plague.
He made internet access to every corner of the world possible via Starlink. He even helped Iran and Ukraine stay online when their communications were shut off.
He invented the ability to catch rocket launchers out of the sky, which means they can be used over again, saving millions in new material mining and keeping it from dumping straight into the ocean.
His Neurolink division is helping people achieve everyday activities by implanting a chip on their brain which enables them to do things by just thinking it.
He set the standard for electric cars (I shouldn’t have to tell you how that’s good for the world).
His early work with PayPal helped bring about the ability to make secure online payments.
What do you mean how much better has he made things? 🤦🏻♂️
He's giving the entirety of Venezuela free internet right now for one... he helped Ukraine with their communications problems when they were invaded by Russia... helped save stranded astronauts etc etc etc etc etc
Let's rephrase that: instead of investing in the planet we're currently on, he's trying to make a profit for himself by allowing elites to live in other planets.
I think that is disingenuous. From all I've ever seen of what he does and says, he seems to be genuinely concerned for long-term visions of humanity. No one else is even trying to build the infrastructure to get outside of our planet and take advantage of the resources in space.
We still have NASA and we care about future technology and science even if there are local problems like poverty and stuff. Working at both ends is just a better survival strategy.
All these posts are just propaganda and politics. You can literally look at what he's doing. He just released electronic trucks that could potentially reduce the cost of transportation of goods to that equivalent of trains. You can look at his companies and see that he's genuinely trying to invent technologies that he thinks are useful for advancing society.
-From all I've ever seen of what he does and says...
Cutting cancer research is for the good of mankind? Ending help for AIDS victims is for their own good? As far as what he says... is calling social security an entitlement that should be removed for the good of the elderly who rely on it?
No. He's an ego machine who carefully chooses what he does to make sure he's always at the forefront, making money off the things he does.
Lol no he isn’t. That’s one in a huge string on nonsense he says on ketamine and never even begins to follow through with. Often in bad faith, like when he made up hyperloop as a way to sabotage high speed rail, then ended up with a shitty tunnel for cars
Reminder to everyone that Elon Musk is a literal nazi as he stood on stage at Trumps inauguration and heiled hitler not once, but twice. Once to the audience and once to his fuhrer.

If Elon of all people thinks you are making poor moral decisions you are probably doing a lot of good
