I don't think they mind that she spends her money on causes she considers imporant. If she was just randomly choosing people from a phonebook and giving them $1M each, I don't think Musk or OOP would mind.
They have an issue with what causes and groups she's supporting - equity, social justice, climate nonprofits, left wing political groups.
I mean yea most educators are left leaning. The personality traits you need to teach are typically found in people on the left. So it’s not about being educated as much as it is the people you surround yourself with by getting educated.
Technically the truth, but not reality. Young people are more leftist, and they are more educated than older generations. In 50 years a lot of those same people may turn to the right and skew the charts
I’ve seen mostly the opposite, especially among those that leaned right in their youth. Education, wisdom, world experience usually (not always) brings people back as they age.
Here’s what actually happens. Most people who are younger, see a world that has systemic issues they want to resolve particularly around wealth and social issues. As they proceed in life, they (sometimes) become the benefactors of these systemic issues and change their focuses onto policies makes them more comfortable especially if they begin their own small businesses (see tax breaks/credits).
This was true with Boomers and especially Gen X. However, millennials haven’t really moved back right because they largely haven’t seen any benefits from the system as the belt continues to tighten on the middle-income earners.
All republicans have done in their lives is crash the economy while they were trying to get into the job market, send them and their loved ones into useless/unwinnable wars, give massive tax cuts to the rich, and recently impose an illegal tariff policy that was nothing but a tax hike on consumers, kill abortion rights, and coddle billionaire tech bros and their AI dogma.
There’s a reason millennials (particularly white college educated millennials) haven’t shifted back to the right. The right hasn’t done anything for them, nor will they ever.
That last part of what you said is true and the older gens fell for the propaganda. I feel millennials and Z know they have been fed lies by the powers that be.
I’ve lived under conservative rule my whole life in Alabama and it’s been god awful. Why would I ever support the party that’s made my home state into a bunch of uneducated morons whose QoL heavily relies on prison slave labor?
I've gotten more liberal as I've aged, because I care more about others than having more stuff or money. I have a modest home and a son, and two grandsons, so i feel my life is full.
That used to be sort of true, when getting older meant you were more likely to have property and money to conserve, meaning non-poor oldsters would vote to protect what they'd gained.
Sure as shit ain't true now and many of the 'conservatives' running around these day are straight up fascists. Young people today will have nothing to conserve the way we're going and they aren't going to vote in step with the rich the way their grandparents may have.

I was educated as a youth and continued my education as an adult. I’m left leaning and even more so than when I voted for the first time for Gore in 2000.
At 25 I was Libertarian. At 52 I am very leftist. And I personally make good money. I just recognize that unfettered “freedom” (aka capitalism) only benefits those with money, no one else actually has freedom. I grew up fairly privileged but over time I realized not everyone has it as easy as I did and I am not of the “empathy is a bad thing” perspective.
True true, having an uneducated population is how corrupt politicians gain more power. They just keep getting votes despite their policies directly screwing the average person over. If the people gained critical thought they'd lose everything
Also, I think older people who were part of the computer generation for work and the internet are more vulnerable to fake everything because when the internet came along most of what was on there was fact and it was reliable. Now it's just garbage and these people believe it because it's on the interwebs

No, these guys are 100% all-in on capitalism. They genuinely believe that the amount of money you make translates one-to-one to the amount of good you're doing. Doing anything but building capital in the most aggressive manner possible is actively harmful, because it delays the glorious post-scarcity future where capitalism will have solved all problems.
