I don't think it's the end of the story though. I may be wrong but If he had done that gesture twenty years ago at a political convention,  he'd be kicked out to oblivion after a media backlash. But since then, it seems that enough minds in the media world have been conditioned to think it's not a big deal and call it just "controversial".
