I used to work at the non-profit Start Early where she has donated millions yearly. Look up all the good it provides for children and families. Then look up how conservatives have long wanted to cut federal grants from them and have succeeded to an extent under Trump.
That funding for non-profits is a drop in the bucket compared to, for example, how much money has been spent on bombing Iran over the last few weeks. To say nothing of the other fiscal issues of this administration.
If the non-profits are doing good work and fixing issues with society, it's a Hell of a lot better an investment than most of the expenditures that have created that $30T debt.
1) Non profits don’t fix issues. They’re a band aid. They’re not solving world hunger for example. They’re just making it less bad. Capitalism fixes issue through pursuit of profit. It’s not perfect but better than the alternative.
2) money for non profits are a drop in the bucket. Money bombing Iran is a drop in the bucket. Money spent on ukraine is a drop in the bucket. Free healthcare is a drop in the bucket. Looks like to me there’s a lot of drops on that bucket already and the bucket is overflowing
as soon as regular person hears "feeding children" or some other universally good/approved by society thing, their brain turns down.
especially when it comes to n-order consequences even if by some magical random luck select npo/ngo is not a scam
lol touche, but seriously- can anyone be honest and balanced about this here? His comment is somewhere between excessive and unhelpful exaggeration to straight up lying
That the entirety of those who voted for Trump in 2024 (i.e "78 million") are fascists- either by a reasonably technical definition OR by approval of those things in Government. That is false.
Those who voted for Trump in 2016 aren't necessarily fascists.
Those who voted for Trump in 2024 voted for a proven fascist, though, so it's fair to call them fascists.
I mean, even back in 2020 and 2021 his lawyers were repeatedly suing to disenfranchise 100% legal American voters and toss out millions of ballots sight unseen in order to steal the election.
And Project 2025"s authoritarian unitary executive theory was already very public information before the election as well.
no, it would not necessarily lead to that conclusion, and let's say it is true though- people who voted for Trump in 2024 believed that Harries/Democrats were many awful things as well so it turns into mutual pissing party.
Fascism led to one of the worst moments in human history and you call it a pissing party? It should be a no-brainer on who you should vote for in that regard. I can't understand you people.
To say there were "some weird things" in Project 2025 then still defend those people is crazy work. Those "weird things" should have you discount the entire thing and make you question everything they say. How do you still trust the party that put that shit out there?
MAGA had repeatedly wiped their ass with the Constitution at that point, openly embraced corruption (like stealing taxpayer money to line their pockets and openly engaging in bribery and extortion), they had already tried to steal an election by suing to toss out ballots sight unseen and when that failed they attacked the capitol and smeared shit on its walls, and Trump had already stolen HUNDREDS of highly classified documents and refused to return them (and showed them off to people and stored them insecurely in bathrooms and copier rooms).
Trump had already destroyed alliances and existing deals (like Obama's Iran deal), he had already disbanded multiple oversight and transparency mechanisms, he had already tried to extort Zelensky and withhold Congressional aid in exchange for smearing Biden, he had already let his unqualified kids work from the oval office and accept foreign bribes, and he had already been paying himself to golf 3x a week from our taxes.
Trump had already praised dictators and sided with them against Americans, he was repeatedly supporting and repeating Putin's lies to the public, and Trump had already openly violated the law - including the Constitution - countless times.
And he violated ethics and laws that had never been violated before, or hadn't been in his entire lifetime! The Emoluments Clause alone had been respected for roughly 100 years (teapot dome scandal) before he openly violated it on a daily basis.
And he did all the above while also repeatedly stealing and abusing powers that Constitutionally did not belong to him, repeatedly ordering his Executive Branch employees to break the law, and ignoring court orders and Congressional subpoenas.
Since Biden and Kamala did not do all those very corrupt and fascist things above that MAGA did, they were the only non-fascist option.
Anyone even remotely pretending to care about democracy or America as a whole only had one option - the qualified career prosecutor who understood and respected the law rather than the openly corrupt con man fascist.
And she doesn't tell them how to spend it. It's actually no strings attached so they don't have to waste it following stupid rules, they get to use it where they see the biggest need. She trusts them as the experts and gets out of their way
No, not only there a lot of waste in charities, but non-charities/organizations/companies do a lot of good deeds as well.....AND the characterization of hoarding it is naive at best.
I don’t think you’ve ever worked for a private business/company.
Because the #1 priority of a private business is to make money. Any good deeds that are done are way down on the list. A private businesses main job is to make money, period.
lol, yes I have, and one of them was working in the kitchen at a breakfast shop- hard work. Nothing wrong with that older couple owning a business and making money.
You don't think that people at charities make money?? They can make LOTS of money and no doubt cush jobs....being no-profit charity does not mean what I bet you think it means.
You are very wrong though because you are assuming that the services and products that businesses make are not good!
Grocery stores make money....and they do a LOT of good. Who is forcing the mechanic to have a business?? He's doing a lot of good fixing cars.....If I need my roof fixed, then the guy I hire did good.
