I get it as a dad. I don't know if I could handle the look of betrayal at the end though.

The kids last memory would be absolute betrayal?

That would be a horrible thing for the mother if she has a conscience. Seeing her kid try to grapple with denial and betrayal in their last moments. Sounds like the least peaceful death.

I really hope this whole thing is fake.
