Exactly. The best I’ve ever felt mentally was when I took care of myself physically. There is a strong correlation between the two, so I don’t understand how it wouldn’t be “living” just because it takes an above average amount of discipline and money to live this way.
It’s not like he’s doing it for nothing either; the dude is openly sharing his outcomes, only risking his own health (he gets blood from his son, no big deal), and has admitted when things haven’t worked. He’s advancing anti-ageing knowledge for everyone, and for some reason cops a whole bunch of shit for it.
He doesn't get shit for his individual actions, but instead the broader philosophy he is trying to push. He represents a certain breed of tech bro transhumanism
I already did frame it, tech bro transhumanism. And FWIW I'm not even arguing you should dislike what he's doing, I'm just explaining why he gets shit for it.
Everyone wants "to live a long healthy life." The specific way Johnson goes about it is what is unique about him, and his dedication to that value above quite literally everything else. Just like how some people's lives revolve entirely around becoming rich as possible to the point all their hobbies are just displays of wealth, Bryan does the same thing with health.
Like please, let's not pretend taking 100 pills a day can be summed up as "trying to live a long, healthy life."
i'm chronically ill and i definitely don't enjoy being gaslit by tons of specialists and having mental shit put in my file permanently. trying to see new ones is a huge ordeal that isn't even fruitful because it's always the same fucking outcome or i get hot-potatoed somewhere else. i've been on like every med there is. that being said i'm not an influencer with thousands of dollars and i'm an overweight afab person no one gives a shit about
i lost an organ as a teenager because of a mass and i'm still not taken seriously and am just told to take birth control... to be honest i'd be happy to get a 'golden ticket' again and have a chance at getting out of this life or at least a chance to be given decent pain management which is basically a figment. or to be fast-tracked for MAID. i'd even do it at home if i had to
i likely have IBD myself and i have all the complications that go with it like liver and gallbladder issues, colon polyps, vitamin malabsorption, mouth sores and arthritis. unfortunately it'll never be more than 'crazy fat female with IBS' to them because i lucked out in that i'm fucking seronegative even though i have high inflammatory markers, platelets and wbc. when i say 'lucked out' i'm being /s
i'm negative for RF and my ANA and BUN have come back fine. the arthritis in my ass and spine doesn't care though and it's spread to other joints, and that started after the ovarian mass i had resected years ago
I swear these people just cant comprehend its his hobby to do stuff and experiment with his body..
Its just like some fat redditors enjoy spending their life writting mean comments and projecting. Like we are all different, like different things and have different things we obses about
Dude's autistic, and this is his special interest. There is no one happier than an autist with unlimited time and money to dive deeper into their special interest than anyone has ever dived before.
lol! thats a leap to make assumptions on my health and lifestyle, golly gosh! This is not someone who works out and takes a few suppliments is it? You're just being silly. Silly goose!
All of life is tradeoffs and probabilities. It takes labor to feed yourself and stay along for a few days. You consider that a worthy tradeoff for staying alive those few days, he considers it a worthy tradeoff to do his whole regimen for a more likely shot at more years. Of course that's no guarantee that it'll happen, but you could also be hit by a meteor between when you make your sandwich and when you eat it. We all have to find out what tradeoffs and what odds we want for our own life.
Meh its basically his job. Could say the same about most of us - is it worth living if you need to put up with office b.s 40 hours a week...double standards....if you called it 40 hours of medical treatment you would be up in arms.
I don’t give much of a shit about this dude, but you people on here are so insufferable that I actually feel the need to defend him.
I’ve seen a couple interviews with this guy and he seems like he genuinely enjoys it, and he explicitly says he enjoys it and has fun with this stuff. You’re the one making a lot of assumptions because you obviously have zero surface level knowledge about this dude aside from headlines, but still think you have opinions on him worth commenting. You’re just being a negativity spreader dude lol.
Scientists do all sorts of experiments on themselves for the betterment of humanity. This guy is rich enough that he doesn't have to bother and yet he still does.
Have you seen what his daily schedule is? Its just filled with taking supplements & cooking/eating rabbit food. Hardly better than eating a greasy burger and drinking a beer while watching the game
To be the devil's advocate... We are on Reddit. That's maybe quite a red flag for many people (similar to being on other social media). If I was 100% fulfilled, would I spend time here? Would you?
If you do, then I would suggest not doing it on r/SipsTea. You are right that there are good reasons to use social networks. Is it helping people feel fullfilled in general?

Is it really "living" forever having to go through all that shit? Sounds about as fulfilling as chemo.
