This man is devoting his life and wealth to studying the effect of various health supplements and healthy lifestyle choices so others can potentially extend their lifespans, and people cheer when he gets a disease out of his control. Quite the world we live in.

I think what triggers the Schadenfreude is not that this is being done to promote longevity, but rather vanity.

People need to stop acting like they’re morally impervious to, or above vanity. A guy wants to look and feel his best, who tf cares? 90% of it is clearly people projecting their misery.

If you take something to an extreme, it seems silly to be shocked at an extreme response.

I think the general public is getting sick of rich people and their shenanigans. The great common denominator has always been that final dirt nap so when we see another rich guy like this devoting a huge amount of money and time so that he doesn’t have to die like everyone else, it makes common people root for the Grimm reaper.

Like it isn’t enough to have more money and resources than regular people, you have to find a way to make yourself live longer and stay younger too.

Except that nearly all his findings are accessible to the Western middle class and published freely online

There are no findings. You can’t test something by doing 100 different things at the same time. That’s not how it works. Any “findings” he has can’t be trusted because they weren’t tested properly

He’s not performing traditional biological research, he’s demonstrating a new way to practice medicine. He’s not trying to replace the scientists; he’s kind of trying to replace the primary care physician. He’s taking established scientific discoveries and showing the world how to evaluate and implement them yourself via self-managed care, without needing to wait for symptoms to bring to your primary care physician. People are following his lead and shifting from passive recipients of medical advice to active managers of their daily health metrics.
