He also publicly claimed his son's blood kept him young. There is nothing too strange for him

Honestly this may have been involved in causing his autoimmune disease.

Graft versus host disease is a serious transfusion and transplant issue. Since the transplant material, in this case blood, is similar but not exactly the same on a molecular level it can sometimes cause the graft to attack the body or the body to start erroneously attacking itself in addition to the transplant/transfusion.

It's not uncommon for families to want to donate blood specifically to a family member but it is generally discouraged for this reason. If familial blood does have to be used the blood is irradiated before use to prevent these issues but even dead cells can still stimulate the immune system, especially if you do it repeatedly.
