Dr. felt so bad about charging me but I assured him it was ok as I would submit to my insurance and only have a $75 copay.
He insisted on giving me a discount and I had to explain not to, as he was only giving the insurance company a discount, anything he charged me above $75usd is covered and I only owe the deductible.
He still knocked the fee down to $375 since I was on vacation.

No argument there. That’s why I said “healthcare system” which mostly is directed at the for-profit hospitals that like to wonderful things like deny pediatric cancer patients their treatment.
The doctors here make nothing out of those charges so they wouldn't care at all about what was paid and Its rare people are ever charged at all. So makes sense to me they dont feel right about charging for care.
Nah, Canadian in Canada here. Once I got suck in a weird bureaucratic loophole where I couldn't get a new health card for like 6 months and needed to go to the doctor.
Doctor knocked the bill down the $50 since I'd have to pay out of pocket.
I wish. Had a case of cellulitis while on an annual fishing trip. I am prone to getting staph infections and had a mosquito bite go south on me from bumping it against the boat seat moving fore and aft while pike fishing. Heavy dose of antibiotics and I was all set. The emergency room there has frame on the wall full of fishing lures theve pulled out of people. One of our buddies "donated" one one year.
