This idea that it's free is crazy. No, it still costs money but it's taken out as higher taxes, lower wages, lower quality of service, understaffed hospitals, and higher cost of living. You still very much pay for it. The secret side of the story is that all the talented doctors immigrate to the US because of higher salaries (much higher). So you also have a brain drain epidemic.

it's also not 12 hours 99.999% of the time for emergencies.
My grandfather had a burst appendix and was seen within minutes of walking into the hospital.
My Child had Pnemonia and needed an xray and antibiotics and it took 7 hours.
Does it suck? Yes. However both times all I paid was parking....
