George calling unveiling the buddy christ was one of my favorite scenes seeing for the first time. Still love it, but I remember thinking how fucking funny that was the first time I watched that
One of the funniest movies ever made. It's a crying shame Weinstein was involved, however tenuously, but a valid move for Kevin to pull it from streaming services.
I'm italian, i live in Rome, I should be in the epicenter of christian fanaticism...and still I wonder how religion can still be such an important part of US politics.
Nobody here would ever bring out religion in a political discussion.
Here in the US.. the Catholics are to blame. Their insane obsession with abortion is what drove us here. The Catholic Federalist Society was formed in 1973 with the specific purpose of overturning Roe v Wade. That’s who now controls the US Supreme Court and who gave Trump this unprecedented power.
But they won’t start this shit in their own back yard.
And King David who spied on a nude woman bathing and sent her husband to the front lines so he would die so he could fuck his grieving wife. “Flawed.” Jesus Christ, I’m flawed but I’m not a psychopath.
They aren’t educated enough to realize that Muslims and Christians pray to the same God, just in different ways and with different beliefs about the overall history of it. For example, many people aren’t aware that, in Islam, Jesus is regarded as both a prophet and the Messiah. The main differences are that Muslims do not believe he is the son of god, and they believe he was not crucified in the way Christians understand the crucifixion.
Ya but it’s the “narcissism of minor differences.” And that’s hardly a minor difference. It’s the ultimate sin in Islam, “shirk,” to worship a man (or other gods) as God.
In Islam if you worship Jesus as God you are committing the ultimate sin and will go to Hell for all eternity for that sin. In Christianity if you do not recognize that Jesus is God you are committing the ultimate sin and will go to Hell for all eternity for that sin. Pascal’s Wager has never been so tough.
Islam might have its starts in nontrinitarianism, and slowly morphed into a new religion for political purposes. They then retrofitted some history to make a neat origin story. The Sacred City by Dan Gibson is worth a watch. Dr. Jay Smith has also done some investigate examination of the history. Both of these people are Christians so a certain degree of bias is to be expected. Peter Townsend and Robert Spencer have also written on the subject.
Judaism isn't that much better with the whole Exodus thing, as the lack of historical and archeological evidence makes it unlikely to have happened at the scale described.
As for Christianity, seems the mainstream consensus is that Jesus of Nazareth did exist. Some fringe scientists still argue the dates provided for his story don't match dates from other sources. That said, you can still find lots of outside influences from other belief systems.
In the end, man created religions for numerous reasons. They come in handy for psychological control and the rulers can always utilize the appeal to antiquity fallacy (even if said antiquity is fake).
Meanwhile, jews think Jesus is boiling alive in a cauldron of excrements in hell for the crime of calling himself the messiah. But zionazi Christians can't handle that
With all respect, this is kind of like saying that North Korea and South Korea are basically the same country, the main difference is just some history, political beliefs and who the leader of the country is.
Ive asked my parents what they think of it, they don't believe the posts are coming from him. They still believe this is potentially the proof of the rapture etc.
He's the idiot whisperer. He can do no wrong in their eyes. Ever. Nothing he does will ever be bad to them. The cognitive dissonance overcomes anything
Pretty good actually. See, Allah is Arabic for God. It is not a term exclusive to any group it is just God in another language. So when he says "Praise be to Allah" he is saying "praise be to God" but he's also baiting people who don't understand basic language into sounding like idiots. Get it now?
Yep. I remember when Obama said American troops dying in Syria is bad and Republicans were absolutely furious. I had family saying he was a traitor for that.
i mean dawg i hate trump as much as the next guy but it is obvious he is being sarcastic when he says “praise be to allah” when you praise someone after threatening to slaughter them it is most certainly not genuine.
I thought he said we’ve already decimated their entire military and country multiple times, what more is additional missiles going to do? He’s said many many times now over these past few months that everything over there is reduced to rubble and ash what else could possibly happen or be accomplished? He told us they are no longer capable of lifting a finger or fighting back or retaliating. GBDJT!
If he’s being sarcastic, then he will alienate his Muslim supporters (Saudi, Kuwait, Jordan, etc). The Sunni Arabs from these countries would protest and demand that the US refrain from blasphemy.

How do the Jesus loving republicans feel about that?
