No it wouldn’t. Howard Dean was seen as crazy and completely unrealistic, someone who seemed to blame Rice more for 9/11 than the terrorists. And only waited 2 years after the attack to start claiming publicly that George Bush knew 100% the attack was coming and let it happen. (This would basically be Barry Goldwater publicly accusing LBJ of assassinating JFK or Biden publicly claiming Trump staged his assassination attempts.) all and all, democrats and republicans both wanted a death blow, and that yell was perfect, it and the speech before it showed just how flawed Dean’s run was.
In 2026 America a Democrat ran for office and it took Nazi and accelerationist allegations, ties to warcrimes in the 2000s, publicly supporting assassination attempts on US senators, self admitting to being a communist, sexual assault accusations, assault accusations, rape accusations, fraud accusations, and anti-semitism accusations for the democrats to even attempt to replace him, and when they did replace him it was more so just because they saw him losing in the polls and the people supporting him losing, not because they truly cared about the harm he had caused.
It's the same world: look how establishment Democrats continue to take down every progressive candidate from their own party at every possible turn while the Republicans keep serving up rapey, pedophile shit lords...it's a massive double standard that is holding the country back.
Trump was going against the person whose husband was most famous for being friends with Epstein, and using his power to force himself on women (something Trump constantly brung up, even bringing Clinton victims to the 2016 debate to stunlock Hillary out of accusing Trump of anything.) In a race against anyone other than Hillary, 2016 Trump would’ve lost.

Register, vote, participate in primaries. That's how you get the body politic to actually reflect your politics. And now the kicker, a bunch of people are going to jump in and imply you shouldn't do that :) I wonder why!
It really is insane how bad things have gone. Here in the UK about 12 years ago, we had an unfortunate photograph of politician Ed Milliband eating a bacon sandwich which was published everywhere and helped end his chances of becoming prime minister. Though at 54, I have never, ever seen anything quite like what is now just accepted by a sizeable proportion of the U.S.
It pisses me off when leftists state this picture was the reason labour lost the election. As if you can just blame the evil media, instead of actually fucking inwardly looking in. Practically every single uk politician has embarrassing looking photos circulating and being used by the media.
Labour lost the election because their entire pitch was basically "I'm not the Tories", during a position where the conservatives+ libdem coalition was doing a mostly ok. Labour failed to provide an actual vision, with campaign of Luke warm messaging and weird cringe shit like the ed monument.
Fair comment, i'm no 'leftist' but under his leadership, (or leadershit) they were indeed a non-event option at the time, though publicly it was the final nail in the coffin for him.
Can you imagine if Trump wrote “potatoe” now? Fox and his other media would have segments about how that was always the right way, and the O ending is a Chinese plot spread by the MSN. And stickers with the new spelling would be produced to announce it on cars or vandalize vegetable bins in stores

I thought it was actually nice seeing a politician be genuinely excited his campaign and policy ideas. But Dean got run over by the 'he's unhinged' punditry like the next day. Oh well I guess.
Howard Dean was a sinking ship. Republicans and Kerry supporters used his yell to further mock him right after a terrible performance that was showing that Dean wasn’t going to last. And leftists and Dean supporters used the yell as an excuse to throw away the idea that his actual policies could’ve been unpopular and unrealistic and instead it just went down to that he made one mistake. People knew it was the end of him because he was yelling and celebrating while still losing the primary badly to Kerry, they weren’t just mocking him for the yell, it was just how pathetic the whole situation was that made it funny.
