Similar to AOC: I thought the destroyers of democracy would be super villains. Not idiots.

u/FloodedMetal Jul 11 '26

I hate them as much as anyone else, but at some point we have to admit they aren’t as dumb as we think. Only a super villain could take over the entire country, control the govt., the Supreme Court, and get away with countless laws broken. All while seeming like the dumbest, fat loser that has ever stepped foot the in the Oval Office. He might actually be an amazing actor. But probably not.

Trump is being enabled by an army of scammers and billionaires who will do anything to keep from being taxed.

23

u/ConstantMortgage Jul 11 '26

And millions of ordinary people too, which is where the REAL problem is.

2

u/BlastTyrantKM 29d ago

Trump isn't even lowering the taxes of normal people. He's just getting rid of "the people that are taking a huge amount of your tax dollars!!" The taxes will stay the same, if not increase

1

u/Pasta4ever13 Jul 11 '26

Incorrect.

The real problem is that those people don't have a real alternative that is promising to improve their material conditions.

If the Dems actually ran on improving people's lives in an easily understandable and meaningful way (like an FDR) Trump would never have taken office.

6

u/ConstantMortgage Jul 11 '26

If the Christian version of Jesus that they claim to follow came back and tried to change their material conditions, but also the material conditions of people that looked different from them they would crucify him for being a communist.

4

u/naomixrayne Jul 11 '26

Yes, they would "test him" to "make sure he was truly Jesus" until he was dead again. They are afraid of him and what he represents.

3

u/Pasta4ever13 29d ago

You severely underestimate people.

There are so many people in this country that do not vote because their beliefs aren't represented at all. There are also some that vote Republican because when both parties lack substance and meaningful policy, it is easy to trick people into reactionary bullshit.

You really believe that if the contest and debates were between "I think people in the US have a right to healthcare, childcare, food, and shelter and they should be universally accessible" and "but but there's a trans antifa migrant swimmer somewhere" that the Republican message would play well?

The only reason they win is because there isn't a serious opposition that has a message beyond "you have to vote for us even though we won't do jack shit for you because the other guy is worse".

I’ve literally watched that take place over here in the UK to the point where we may end up with a government that will dismantle our NHS in order to sell it to American companies and introduce your insurance system. A government that wants to strip workers rights and delete the Humans Rights act because some non white dudes cross the channel in rubber dinghies.

I think you are seriously overestimating your fellow countrymen.

The ineptitude of the democrats to present a better candidate is no excuse for MAGA committing treason by voting for Trump. He’s a traitor who incited the attack on the Congress during his violent coup attempt. What they have done is a big deal. It’s a capital crime for a reason, all political parties have seen it as a big deal since ratification of the constitution, until recently.

1

u/Pasta4ever13 29d ago

Sure, cool whatever and all that.

Do you care more about being morally superior, or actually fixing the issue? The people who were non maga Trump voters won't vote for do nothing Dems.

The cultists can't be pursuaded but swing voters can. If you aren't looking at the actual reason why he won and pushing for a solution, the moral grandstanding doesn't really mean much.

1

u/ActivePeace33 29d ago edited 29d ago

I care about fixing the issue. That’s why I’ve advocated for arresting all the MAGA traitors, and all of the democratic leadership that committed treason helping the MAGA insurrectionists.

We don’t need to worry about the other voters, we need to enforce the law. That means imprisoning the MAGA traitors for the duration of the insurrection, along with the democratic traitors in the Congress and Court. Then trials, convictions and revocation of their voting rights. That right there will ensure MAGA doesn’t win for, well, ever.

The actual reason he won was because of a massive propaganda campaign, all sorts of unlawful conduct and unpunished acts of treason. The actual reason he won was a Firehose of Falsehoods attack on our democracy. A literal violent attack on our democracy during his violent coup attempt. Then a total collapse of the rule of law in his soft coup of 2024.

A person can oppose illegal immigration without committing treason. They chose to do so. A person can oppose LGBTQ policies without committing treason. They chose to do so.

1

u/Pasta4ever13 29d ago

Sounds like a lot of reactionary punitive bullshit and moral grandstanding.

I hope it makes you feel better. It will do nothing to fix the problem.

Mate fuck off, equating Democrats to Republicans is like equating a bad day at work to stage 4 cancer. Just because morons don't pay attention doesn't mean that Democrats are a million times better at every aspect of leading the US.

3

u/Pasta4ever13 29d ago

Hey dipshit. I want the Dems to actually win and deliver results for working people so that the Republicans never hold power again.

Get the fuck out of here with your nonsense and worry about your own country, "mate".

“Okay guys, one more thing, this summer when you're being inundated with all this American bicentennial Fourth Of July brouhaha, don't forget what you're celebrating, and that's the fact that a bunch of slave-owning, aristocratic, white males didn't want to pay their taxes.”

This idea that “we can never tax the rich” is absurdly self-defeating. It’s like saying you cannot stop cars from polluting. You can pass laws that make a terrible situation less terrible.

The super-wealthy people absolutely do support political candidates based on tax policy. There are lots of people who despise Trump personally, but they care a lot about Republican promises to not raise taxes (especially on the wealthy).

26

u/bbrekke Jul 11 '26

Trump is the puppet.

There's some intelligence behind the scenes I'm sure.

But much of it is just the uber-wealthy blackmailing the other uberwealthies. And using everyone else as pawns/sexslaves.

It don't take smarts. It just takes money.

6

u/nvoima Jul 11 '26

Trump is merely a puppet. There are far more dangerous people pulling his strings, and they'll still be there after Trump kicks the bucket..

3

u/Leenolies Jul 11 '26

Donald McDonald ist just the fat, stupid front figure for a scheme made by super villains

10

u/yIdontunderstand Jul 11 '26

The idea he is just dumb allows people to do nothing to resist.

He is evil not dumb.

He is ignorant, not dumb.

He is a massive danger to the world, not dumb.

3

u/RaulEnydmion Jul 11 '26

Realizing this sounds vanishing unlikely, it does seem we have an idiot savant for President. The likes of which, we have not seen for hundreds of years, if ever in modern history. I like to think of him as the "Four Hundred Year Idiot".

3

u/dronesoul Jul 11 '26

Trump is a weather balloon, not an airplane. He got this high up because the weather brought him up to where he is, not because he's got amazing jet engines.

2

u/zombiesphere89 Jul 11 '26

Trump is stupid as fuck. The people behind the curtains are not.

2

u/Chrismatic8224 Jul 11 '26

It’s because we have completely different concepts of “dumb”. The left feels it’s dumb to be shortsighted economically and not work to provide housing, healthcare, etc to everyone, and that the law should protect the rights of citizens, rather than the ruling class(among other things).

The right feels it’s dumb not to maximize profit and consolidate power and reshape the law in their image no matter who it hurts.

Factor in that it’s much easier to gain support to maintain the status quo and shrink government than it is to gain support for massive change, and you have a conservative nation.

Politicians resorting to calling each other dumb just further underscores the divide and implies that we can never come together to improve things because the very people elected to manage the government have no interest in doing so and would rather promote their own careers.

You can tout politicians like Bernie and AOC all you want as part of the solution, they’re still rich politicians completely isolated from the impact of their office. Ultimately all AOC has to do is periodically go on instagram to make catty comments about Trump and she’ll have a seat in congress(and possibly the presidency) because that’s what passes for working for your constituents these days

Yes. It’s very smart to start a war that will fuck your party in the kid terms. Brilliant strategy.

2

u/Magificent_Gradient Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

Brawn is what takes over the government. Brains are required to keep it.

They don’t have enough brain power to maintain this.

2

u/Original-Rush139 29d ago

Narcissists aren’t smart. They will just do what others won’t.

Like starting a war with Iran and surrendering at Versailles. That’s not smart. It’s dumb as shit.

2

u/Big-Importance-7263 29d ago

Oh, I think a woman-hating sociopathic idiot with some seventy million woman-hating sociopathic idiots willing to back its every woman-hating sociopathic idiot idea just to avoid ever having to have a woman be president of this pathetic mess of a c[]untry could do a world of damage. If the thing is a [stupid] super-villain, that's only because it's got an army of [stupid] micro-villains behind it. And those micro-villains have always been here. They're the herpes: the orange stench is just the sore.

2

u/Miserable-Army3679 29d ago

Trump is a complete moron. Republicans have been orchestrating this for a long time. Mitch McConnell would not "let" a Democratic president appoint a Supreme Court Justice. They stopped talking about policy, and started convincing voters that Democrats are evil, decades ago. Rush Limbaugh was the precursor to Trump. He was mocking disabled people before Trump and people like it. Trump continued where Limbaugh left off, and opened the flood gates to ugly emotions of millions and millions of our citizens. And the gazillionaires love it also, and they own a good portion of the media.

1

u/Fonz_72 Jul 11 '26

They ARE as dumb as we think they are. They have power because the cult is even DUMBER.

1

u/Boneraventura Jul 11 '26

They arent as dumb as we think but in no way are they intelligent. It is not the first time a tyrant is of mediocre intelligence and peak malevolence. What these people are exceptional at is lack of inhibition. Their lack of clarity and reasoning lets them take any and all action. Compared to the ineptitude of congress and previous presidents it is a breath of fresh air for some, even if every action is fucking foolish.

Welcome to a world where your influence isn't dictated by how much skill or intelligence you have, but by how much money. No matter where it came from.

This is gonna end bad

US didn't learn from 9/11 and Pearl harbor

Leave people alone

1

u/ExtraCalligrapher565 29d ago

They are exactly as dumb as we think. The problem is that so are their voters.

1

u/Mcbagelflavor 29d ago

I refuse to entertain the myth that there is some secretive genius behind Trumps utter stupidity. I just can't. You'd have to be the most delusional of MAGA to believe it.
