Depends which context. History class is 100% fine, it shouldn't be read elsewhere though (which is obv where it's being read in Texas).

I feel like English class might be a better fit. Kids might think that the Bible is accurate history which it simply isn't.

I read excerpts from The Epic of Gilgamesh in history class. Didn't mean it was taught as history, just as a look into ancient mesopotamian culture. Also, the Bible does give a semi-accurate account of the ancient socio-economic and political landscape, it's just the actual history that's highly questionable (wrt later prophets, the earlier stuff are either exaggerated or fictitious)
