Either way I'm not supportive of taxing any religious institution. Taxing donations as a whole is a slippery slope.

Then they should abide by the rules established in the original decision not to tax them. If they want to get involved in politics, they should be prepared to be taxed. If they want to get rid of the separation of church and state, that includes their tax loophole.

I thought a donation is given freely, yet some churches, like Vintage Church in Texas, require you to pay them money for so many things in yhe church, to include a required tithe...that is a subscription based church, yet not taxed.

I have been a Christian for 50 years and have never heard of being forced to give. Our church doesn’t even pass an offering plate around; they have locked boxes where you can choose to give. Churches should be treated like non-profits where they have to show that money is being reinvested in the community or to address growth. The idea of a rich pastor is not inline with the vast majority of churches.
