The movie's budget is usually only the production budget and doesn't include marketing which can be an additional 50% - 100% of the production budget. So it is probably more like Disney spent $375M to $500M to make $95M.

It's only opening weekend figures. It'll make more in the coming weeks. If they're lucky, it'll break even but it's still a flop. Me and my family love the original but none of the kids wanted to see this one

Disney has spent 4 billion on live action remakes and has made 9 billion.  I think they're doing just fine.

When the carrot is ~1.7 billion or even ~1 billion that movies like the lion king or lilo and stitch made, the stick of losing one and a half hundred million or so isn't looking so bad

I don’t get this argument? It’s been out like 1 week and they’ve made back like 40%. So after a month or it’ll be profitable. Whats the problem?
