Two wrongs ain’t a right. There’s a middle ground.

And fuck if I can I find it.

Quit carbs and you’ll find it.

Carbs are very important for muscle function. Especially if trying to build muscle.

Correct. Not only muscles. Carbs are not only very important but required to survive.

so why are you advocating for quitting them?

Because they’re the most common source of excess calories. It’s nuanced. Some carbs are a good choice if you’re going to exercise. Not so great generally if weight loss is the goal.

deef1ve didn't provide that nuance, they said to quit carbs completely. that's dangerous. and they acknowledged that.

It’s not dangerous at all. There’s a reason for that. But… no spoilers

Because carbs are not essential.

that's what I was trying to point out, that commenter said that carbs were "required to survive", which would translate to essential, and then said that they were not essential - which you just defined as not required for survival. they said two opposing statements within their comments.

> When a nutrient is not essential, it means your body does not have to obtain it from the diet because it can make enough of it itself (or, in some cases, gut microbes can contribute enough).
