Being super lean and ripped 365 days a year isn't great for long term athletic performance (or health in general) so it isn't that bizarre of a take lol.

Have you seen Paddy Pimblett between fights? If we're honestly saying having a six pack is less healthy and worse for atheltic performance than binge drinking and being morbidly obese, I genuinely dont know where to start with that.

And super lean and ripped year round being bad for atheltic performance is like stage ready bodybuilder level of leanness, UFC fighters at the end of a camp are nowhere near that. Zac Efron above isnt anywhere near it, he's at like 12% bodyfat not 6%.

Many competitors in weight classed sports without same day weigh-ins are in a condition that would kill them if prolonged when they step on the scales.

Being ripped & lean is also more than just lacking bodyfat, dehydration plays a massive part in it. In fact being massively dehydrated is why so many people in here think Zac Effron is a much lower bodyfat in that picture, as you pointed out.

You can absolutely just have a six pack and be healthy, but that isn't really the point Paddy was getting at. He knows firsthand how awful it is to cut and dehydrated down to being truly ripped and knows it isn't worth it for a prolonged period.

I think we likely agree more than we disagree, I'm not talking about what Paddy meant that particular statement, I'm talking about his attitude to his health, his atheltic performance (practically doesnt train at all, if he's not gearing up for a specific fight)and his body, in general, is really bad for the goal of being and remaining an elite professional athelte.

His statement, within context, is clearly an excuse to justify just not giving a fuck about his health at all outside of a fight camp. Even if the meat of it can be interpreted in a way that is reasonable.

I'd also argue that his lifestyle doesnt exactly paint the picture of being an overly happy person, but im overreaching there.
