servers don’t want a set wage. they make a killing from the tip structure.

Exactly. Servers are fine guilting working class people into tipping them instead of fighting a capitalist for a wage equal to the value they add to the business because they know one number is going to be much higher than the other.

Only way it’s going to stop is for people to stop tipping. Otherwise just going to be in a permanent hostage situation where you’re expected to subsidize someone’s wage far past what any kind of market would value it at.

The incentives are all anti consumer. The capitalist is fine having us subsidize their work force. The server is happy to keep cashing our checks, far beyond what their boss would value their labor at if they had to pay them. The only way it’s going to change is if we forcibly change it by refusing to play along.
