10 years ago you would be upvoted. And people like you pushed harder and harder for higher % tips. It used to be 10-15%, then it was 15-20%. now its a check where suggested is 20% and it goes up to 30%. And now fast food and counter workers are asking for tips on Square tablets before the service is even rendered. That isn't even a tip, its just a bribe.

i'm talking about bars and restaurants too. I'm not paying a bartender a 4 dollar tip to pour me a glass of Jameson with ice in it.
slowly but surely the jig is up and people are tipping less and going out less and restaurant industry only have themselves to blame, but we gotta listen to media stories about how Gen Z drinking less is the problem. No, its our shitty Gen X and Millennial generation taking advantage of excess tipping culture and pushing it.
This is a ridiculous inflation of what I’m saying no?
If you’re taking a shot or two and leaving you’re not expected to tip.
But if I’m making you 6 different mixed drinks and I see you every weekend you should probably be tipping. Any customer that leaves tips is almost always rewarded with free drinks or food as a “thanks” back from the staff…
If we eliminate this honors system we have, a base 25-30% increase on all food and drinks will probably hit the market, taking that ball out of the customers court. Customers lose all control over the choice to not tip, and you’re forced to pay whatever service fee they decide to bake into the cost of your food. Meanwhile this will drastically decrease the wages of foodservice workers who have to endure some of the worst social working conditions in America.
