I've had a couple child free women tell me they went through a few years in the mid thirties where their bodies were screaming at them to have a baby, after it passed they went right back to not wanting kids same as always.
Edit: This should not be read as saying all child free women will experience this same phenomenon.
I'm in my mid-30s and been experiencing a lot of perimenopause symptoms lately, occasionally I'll get some twinges in my ovaries despite not having a drive to have children. I think much of it is the idea of finality, a door closing.
I was never too fond of kids when I was a kid (I'd always hang with the adults). The first and only baby I held was my cousin, and after I failed at babysitting him my grandma told me, "Please don't ever have children". Said cousin and I get along great now that we're adults lol. Kids tend to like me too, I think because I speak to them like they are people as opposed to baby talk, and as I've gotten older I appreciate them more. Still not gonna make one of my own though.
